Sometimes everyone needs a Little Spot of Happiness! And Diane Alber (as always) does a fantastic job of incorporating SEL into RF-RA books. This series caught my attention from the beginning, I had to buy the whole collection! This book teaches children that a little spot of happiness needs to grow and grow in order for it to be a big spot, and take the place of the big angry spot. #UCFLAE3414SP21

Spearsall continued: She provides manipulatives and accessories to help the students understand more. One example is putting a little yellow spot on the students hand to remind themselves to spread kindness and happiness around, then the spot will grow! Again, a must read for including SEL in the classroom while teaching them life skills.UDL principle 2.5 is used: Illustrate through multiple media. And ESOL strategy,”Encourage self-talk (positive thinking)” 3y
Spearsall continued: is used as well. https://youtu.be/WKy8PrrjmJ4 Here is a link for an interactive read aloud by a teacher, in great detail and animation. If you explore Diane‘s YouTube channel, you will find more author-read-aloud‘s and her explaining the purpose of her books with background information on it. 3y
PatriciaS I love the cover of this book, that alone made me want to read on, your review was great, very thorough and detailed in ways teachers can utilize this book in their classroom. Teaching children to spread kindness and support emotional growth is our responsibility as educators and I will be incorporating this book into my lesson plan. Thank you for a great review and resources too. 3y

DrSpalding I am so glad you introduced the entire class to this author. Thank you for sharing the YouTube channel. You along with several of your peers are wisely researching social emotional learning. As you enter your future classroom, sadly due to the pandemic, many children will be experiencing the lasting affects of trauma due to what the world has endured. 3y
Spearsall @DrSpalding 100%... I am ready to take on the responsibility and MY responsibility as their teacher.. aka the person who spends 8 hours a day with parents children to teach them even more SEL💞💞 3y
DrSpalding I agree! 3y
