Gosh, thank you so much to @melyndarae for the welcome and for all those who are now following me! I am overwhelmed! At the moment I am making a list of those books I pull out when I am sick or sad... mostly childhood classics. I'm slowly learning how to navigate here but I am not the most techie person in the world!

#tbt to a series I loved as a young teen. The Carlisle Chronicles follow a Foreign Service family as they adjust to being back in the US after years overseas. They're close-knit, with strong traditions, but everyone is also very independent. Parts of the series are a little idealized, but I love that they didn't shy away from the messier parts of life either; the characters and their struggles are real in a way that was somewhat lacking in 1987.
