"You were made for The River . . ." Gabriel Clarke is mysteriously drawn to The River, a ribbon of frothy white water carving its way through steep canyons high in the Colorado Rockies. The rushing waters beckon him to experience freedom and adventure. But something holds him back-the memory of the terrible event he witnessed on The River when he was just five years old-something no child should ever see. Chains of fear and resentment imprison Gabriel, keeping him from discovering the treasures of The River. He's remains trapped, afraid to take hold of the life awaiting him. When he returns to The River after years away, his heart knows he isfinally home. His destiny is within reach. Claiming that destiny will be the hardest-and most brave-thing he has ever done. "The River is a story that will transform how you see yourself and the world." -Andy Andrews,New York Timesbest-selling author ofHow Do You Kill 11Million People?, The Noticer, andThe Traveler's Gift

I have been researching all day, so I haven't had time to do any "fun" reading, but I do have this book on my shelf that was perfect for #theriver today. It's got lovely deckle edge pages and while I've not read it, the scrap of paper in the middle indicates someone in my house must have picked it up! #rockinmay

Cinfhen I'm intrigued, I think I could do an entire month of reading books that focus on rivers! So many good ones today 😃 7y

Mehso-so

I wouldn't rate it as phenomenal but it wasn't bad. I had to press to keep going. It was a good ride to the beach and back read. I wish the character Jacob had a little more depth. So much time was spent on Gabriel and his early life and then the end cascaded to an end like a gushing rapid.
