pickThis was my first graphic novel, and I found it fascinating. The graphic format made it easy to understand Haiti's very complicated, sad, and violent history. I will read more of this series.

Turns out he has written a book about Robert Smalls, a local hero! I live in the South Carolina Lowcountry, and Beaufort, where Smalls was born, is our county seat. I can‘t wait to read this!
