First in a series and a fast read, this contemporary romance has themes of forgiveness and family. The background was original - lobster fishing industry - and well researched, and the setting enchanting. While there are typical romance tropes, there‘s some depth and insight, too - especially regarding grief & loss/illness of a parent. I‘ve been missing my dad fiercely today. I‘ve no idea why today - it has been over 3 years and there‘s not a looming anniversary. Then I read this and felt it in my core. I wasn‘t expecting this book to be so insightful.

After The Nightingale, I was looking for something a little lighter. I chose this one because I have the second in the series on my shelf. I borrowed this ebook from my library and will be able to check off my first series read for #serieslove2023. Not sure it fits the bill for “light”, as the main character‘s mother is very ill. ❤️📚

My first time reading Liz Johnson, and I‘m so glad I “discovered” her! The author‘s descriptions of the boat and being on the water and toiling long days with the traps and the lobsters were vivid. I learned more about lobster fishing than I ever thought I‘d want to know. A delightful story about perseverance, forgiveness, family and friendship.

Liz Johnson's books are a must-read and her newest book showcases exactly why. From the opening chapter, the characters and the plot are captivating and the plot has a nice smooth flow with easy-to-read writing. There is great humor but also plenty of heartache and grief and brokenness being redeemed and forgiveness conquering fear.
