This was funny, clever, and full of Lord Peter‘s “piffle”—this time put to useful purpose as he goes undercover at an ad agency to investigate a suspicious death. I loved the spot-on caricatures of office personalities, as well as Lord Peter‘s various small “tells”! The mystery was also satisfying—other than one trope at the end that I hate. (Another belated review for a December read!) #CloakandDaggerChristmas - classic mystery #SeriesLove2023

Ruthiella Awesome 🎅🏻🔪💀🎄I‘ve read this before but honestly, other than the ad job, remember nothing about the plot. 1mo
willaful One of my favorites. 1mo
batsy I enjoyed this a lot, too. 1mo
TheSpineView Fantastic! 1mo
BarbaraJean @Ruthiella I find that to be the case for me with so many murder mysteries! I guess that adds to the re-read value when I can‘t remember who the murderer was😏 1mo

Cute fake dating novel. Connor was a young preteen in the first book and he's all grown up now. There's some internalized homophobia he has to work through while he pretends to date his crush even though everyone thinks he's straight. Reid was a good love interest for him and their relationship growth was enjoyable to watch

I never posted the rest of my #WinterGames reviews since I got sick the last week so bear with me here while I catch up
Overall I'm giving this interconnected series a pick, although some were better than others. Silent Knight was my favorite, it had childhood best friends reunited & made the best use of other characters from the series, making the small town setting feel real. There're two more books I didn't get to but will try to read next year

#seriesLove2023 Wrap Up

My goal was to read 24 books between adult and kids series, I managed to read 22 books total. Most of the books I read were middle grade but I managed to start two new series, Thursday Murder Club and Mrs. Morris. Going Rouge kept me current on Evanovich and I read one book, book 3 in the ongoing series of Magical Bakery.

Many thanks to @Andrew65 and @TheSpineView for hosting #SeriesLove2023!

I finished 7 novels and 3 novellas in the October Daye series and will be continuing with the 14th novel for #SeriesLove2024.

I only finished 2 books in the Maigret series and 1 in the Malazan series, but as these were especially challenging (Maigret in French, and Reaper's Gale with 900+ pages), I am pleased enough with the progress!

Andrew65 Excellent, 3ell done. Even more impressive reading in another language 👏👏👏 (edited) 2mo

2023 was an excellent year. I finished the challenges I set out to finish. I read lots more than just books for challenges, such as several books about the history of Italy for my epic trip there and at least one chunkster, Papillon

Thanks to some overlap here are the totals:
#LitsyAtoZ 118
#Foodandlit 20 for 12 countries
#AuthoraMonth 13 for 12 authors
#ReadingtheAmericas at least 50 for 50 countries
#SeriesLove2023 17

Thanks to all the hosts!

Librarybelle Excellent!!! 2mo
Gissy Congratulations📚📚📚🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏 2mo
Texreader @Gissy @Librarybelle Thanks very much y‘all! Compared to a lot of folks on Litsy, it‘s a pretty low number and I‘ve learned to accept that. I get the total every year but it‘s not my goal. I absolutely love the challenges. 2mo

TheBookgeekFrau Congratulations 🎊🎊 2mo
Texreader @TheBookgeekFrau Thank you! So much fun to get those challenges knocked out and to find such great books (and a few duds) doing them! 2mo
Catsandbooks That's amazing!! 👏🏼👏🏼💖 2mo
Amiable Thanks for the tag but I didn‘t host any of these challenges! 😬 2mo
TheSpineView Well done!📚📚📚 2mo
Andrew65 That;s brilliant and well done on finishing #ReadingTheAmericas2023, I‘ve still got a few countries, and especially the small islands, to mop up. 2mo
Texreader @Amiable I ran out of space but I did do a chunkster. Isn‘t that your challenge? 2mo
Amiable @Texreader Yes! I was thinking that I thought you‘d done a chunkster but I couldn‘t remember which one(s) — I still have PTSD from “Clarissa,” I think. The brain is slow. 😄 2mo
Gissy @Texreader Every year is different and sometimes, there books that take time to read them because of the length of the book or because the topic. There are month were we are just busy🤷🏽‍♀️But keep trying to read. You did it fantastic. If you say to any person that you read 118 books in a year, they will be surprised. That is a lot, even 50, 20 books is an amazing amount, with work, family and daily duties, it‘s fabulou. 2mo
Texreader @Gissy thanks! You are so right. Numbers fluctuate for so many reasons. When I first joined litsy years ago I felt so inadequate when I‘d see other folks‘ numbers (my numbers were much much lower). I‘ve definitely upped my game but it‘s still so inconsistent. So I‘ve learned not to let them bother me. 2mo

2023 was a great reading year for me. I initially hope to read at least 55 books. I far surpassed that 😀
Read lots of books I would have otherwise missed if not for my Litsy friends, challenges and group reads.
While my series stats for 2023 were quite good, I am hoping for better in 2024.
I nearly met my goal of not starting any new series until I complete one already in progress.

Andrew65 That‘s a brilliant year, well done. 👏👏👏 2mo

A master criminal has set his sights on stealing the Crown Jewels. I have read all of the other books in the Detective William Warwick series. This is book #6 in the series by Jeffrey Archer. Archer is a master entertainer at telling stories. I love his books and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

EadieB If you want to know if stealing the Crown Jewels is possible, then read this book. You will not be disappointed and will get a real enjoyment out of reading a story written by Jeffrey Archer. 2mo
Andrew65 This was an excellent read, but then again the whole series is. I thought this was a cleverly written book taking in a potential theft of the Crown Jewels. 2mo

Apologies for not remembering the host😬🤔 I read/listened to great books in 2023 & am looking forward to the 2024‘s bracket release. Could someone please tag me when they come across the new one🧐

I‘m gonna do separate ones (physical, digital & audiobooks) this year & my goal is to keep up with them monthly (instead of wracking my🧠 come December).

TheSpineView I did a screen capture so hopefully I will remember 2mo
