I wish I read it sooner. I loved nearly everything about it. The unique story kept me engaged and I didn't want it to end. The writing was simple at times but I could feel what the characters were feeling - it was written that well! Pacing, character development and world building all flowed seemlessly, making it feel like the author has natural talent. The conclusion is satisfying and wraps up the story well. This book is why I love YA!

Bookzombie I love the zombie! 🧟‍♀️ 10mo

The Ankou is a being who can never permanently die, but turns to nothing but bones every dawn. He uses this to hunt monsters. Flora‘s home is destroyed & she‘s left for dead, when she awakes in the Ankou‘s home & appears to be part of the key to break his curse, she agrees to help if he trains her to be a monster slayer like him. off on a quest they go. Not incredibly written tbh but I loved these characters deeply &the world. very much enjoyed

The sheer inventiveness of this book makes it worth the read, both in terms of the story itself, and the characters individually. I‘ve never read anything like it. I thought, for a split second at the end, that I was going to be rage-writing this review, but luckily it turned around and ended in the best way it could. 💀

This book was SO SO SO GOOD!! I instantly fell in love with the characters and I read this al in one night, stayed up way past my bed time to finish it! But I could not put it down. This book really reminded me of The Invisable Life of Addie LaRue, but better! Way more depth and folklore! I loved Addie but I think this one even tops that one! 5/5 would recommend this SO MUCH!!!

My yearly big bookstore haul. I had so much fun! The best part was the tagged book (which isn‘t released until tomorrow!!) being on the shelf. ❤️
