I went into the fridge for a drink…noticed the shelf was dirty. This turned into a full cleaning meltdown 😂 thankfully this audiobook kept me company!

What a perfect Father‘s Day weekend read! Eliza and her family emigrated to Western Australia to make their fortune in pearls. But the harsh weather and terrain takes a toll on the family. Now an adult, Eliza stops at nothing to find her father when his lugger returns without him. With the fierce love of father and daughter and Eliza‘s own strength, this well-written read is hard to put down! The historical and natural detail really adds to it!

This is a well researched novel that looks at the pearl diving industry in northwestern Australia in the late 1800s. It is a debut novel and while I did not love it, I did enjoy it and would happily pick up the author's next book. It was educational, entertaining and appreciated the strong female characters. It should be noted that there was some graphic violence. I gave it 3.5/5 stars.

Thank you to @SimonSchuster @simonbooks and #S&SBookClubFriends for gifting me this #ReviewersCopy 😌 If you‘re looking for an atmospheric historical mystery with a spunky female character, the Pearler‘s Daughter is the answer. Set in the late 19th century on the unforgiving shores of Western Australia this richly detailed story involves the ugly side of the pearl diving business. Author Lizzie Pook does a wonderful job of setting & locale.

Coleen This cover would suck me in! 😍 2y
