Okay — I never, not even once, suspected the murderer in this book. I can‘t tell if it‘s because I‘m dense (this is often true) or because the reveal really did come out of thin air. Nevertheless, I did like this book, and we got further development of the Violet/Rainwater relationship.
Should be done with this soon. I‘ve had a long day. Got up at 5:00am, then went for a walk, then had to participate in and present at a staff professional development day. I‘m worn out and will probably be asleep soon. #audiowalk
I like the Magical Bookshop cozy mystery series, so when this showed up in Hoopla, I grabbed it and made it my new walking book. This time Violet is dealing with issues surrounding her father as well as the murder of a private detective she knew. #audiowalk
A private detective who threatened to find out the secret of the bookshop and expose it has returned to town. When he turns up dead, Violet is both relieved and scared. Who else knows and who killed him? She has to decide whether or not she trusts David, her boyfriend and the police chief, with the secret the women in her family have kept for generations. A store raven, a magical bookstore, and a mischievous cat make this an enjoyable series.
