To Disguise the Truth (The Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency) | Jen Turano
5 posts | 5 read
When a man arrives at the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, anxious to hire them to find a missing heiress, Eunice Holbrooke realizes her past has finally caught up with her . . . and that she may no longer be able to hide under the disguise that has kept her safe for so long. Arthur Livingston's goal in life is to make his mark on the world as a mining industrialist, but after the man who could help him achieve his goal is murdered, Arthur feels compelled to seek justice for the family--but he's left with more questions than answers after the eccentric Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency refuses to take on his case. Desperate to conceal her real identity and avoid the irritatingly handsome Arthur, Eunice takes on a different case that requires her to go deep undercover and entangles her in one troublesome situation after another. When other secrets come to light, Eunice has no choice but to confront her past, hopeful that it will set her free but knowing it could very well place her life--and the lives of those she loves--in jeopardy.

With ample amounts of humor spread throughout, this book was so much fun to read. I really enjoyed when the presumed dead characters, along with trusted friends, showed up in Butte. As they went about solving a years old mystery and covered up murder, it almost felt like we were playing a rather rousing game of CLUE, the board game. So much fun!

To Disguise the Truth was very a wonderful story. I finally found out the backstory on Eunice and it was about time. I loved how her friends from the agency looked out for her when they realized she was uncomfortable around Arthur. Arthur was not a character I immediately liked. He had to seriously grow on me but in the end he did. Overall, this story was exciting, mysterious, had an element of danger, and, at the core of it, was very romantic.

I think this was Ms. Turano‘s best work yet! I loved this story. I was drawn in from the first page all the way to the end. I felt as though I was a part of the story. Eunice was such a unique character. I loved her personality and her ability to forgive. If I had been in her place, I‘m not sure I would have been as forgiving. What a lesson!

I received this book from the author for my honest review.
