1036 pages of drugs, sex and violence. Also cycling, difficulties communicating with other people, and money problems... This book was very much out of my comfort zone, but I did it! I read it to the end and can now spend the next couple of weeks thinking about the fact that I don‘t know what to think of it

I am about halfway-through RabalaÃ¯re, a 1036-page doorstop about a forty-something out-of-work man who cycles all over the Massif Central in search of company, friendship, sex and God knows what. It is an extremely uncomfortable read!
