Rain and Retribution

#Conveyance is today's #200PnPcovers prompt, so I chose a story where Darcy and Elizabeth are brought together (in part) when a carriage breaks down. In this version, once again Mr. B is determined that E WILL marry Mr. Collins. E runs away, but when the carriage breaks down not far from home, she decides she is going to have to just walk home and face the music.... enter Mr. Darcy. He gives E a lift, but they don't get very far before the road ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) is washed out and they have to take shelter in a very crowded inn... guess who has to share a room?? Despite the slightly-hokey #onebed trope, there was a lot to enjoy about this version, where D&E talk through their differences and agree to marriage of convenience. However, Diamond balances this by making several people who are actually very nice in the original story be villains in this version, and I hated the way that all the Bennets⬇ 2y

TheAromaofBooks @CrowCAH - I'm definitely not going to pretend like most of these adaptations are remotely historically accurate 😂 Although I will say they got married as soon as the rain let up and they made it to London! 2y
