This was an emotional book about two teens reluctantly falling for each other. Skylar is new in town, having recently been adopted. He is mute & scared to trust anyone. Jacob is the pastor's son who just came out & is not accepted by his family. There is homophobia & bullying especially when Skylar decides to wear a skirt to school. The two boys fight for the right to dress regardless of gender. Overall a sweet story with disability representation

Got to spend time with my sister and little niece this weekend 💕 We visited this cute little bookstore and coffee shop in Kannapolis called Editions. (I'll post my book haul later)
The funny thing is I started reading the tagged book the next day and it is set in Kannapolis and features many scenes in this very bookshop! Turns out the author lives in the city and frequents there often. How cool!

BookNAround I visited Editions for the first time a couple of months ago thanks to the Charlotte area book crawl. 😁 2y

Starts out with sweet vibes as we learn nonverbal Skylar has started a new school in North Carolina. Add amazing new adoptive parents, supportive new friends, hot Jacob the love interest, and a legal fight over the dress code. Kind of angsty and some parts seem a bit rushed, but overall good queer YA romance. #gaymay 3 swoonies😍😍😍and 1/2 spice.

TheBookHippie Oh I liked this one I read it with a mentee. 2y
