pickOh the thrill of thrifting a book, reading it, and loving it. The relationship of Eleanor and Park is beautiful- I hope Rainbow Rowell continues their journey. While reading, I never once gave thought to the story as YA, and that‘s my favorite kind of YA to read.
pickPhew, this felt like a punch to the gut, but in a good way. I expected a sweet, YA love story, which I definitely got, but I got a whole lot more, too. I hadn‘t expected the darker sides of the story - bullying, racism, violence, abuse - but they brought some rawness and realness to the story, which I really liked!
My Saturday #BookReport - my reading week turned out as expected, except for my audio pick, which was on a bit of a whim. The two books I finished were both great, and I‘m loving Eleanor and Park, so far 🙌
pickNot just another YA novel, but a lovely story for all ages. It just wonderfully reminds us of butterflies in the stomach, first kiss, first love, highschool drama and teenage insecurities
pickThis was an engaging YA story of star-crossed romance. Eleanor‘s home situation caused me anxiety as I kept waiting for something to happen there. The story paints a poignant picture of children living in poverty in the midst of those with plenty.
I‘m not #sorry I received the Persephone Biannually, but I‘m sorry for what their magazine does to my #crave for new books 😅 I‘m trying to control my riges by reading this not-so-light, but very sweet book, and so far, it is working 🙌

This was recommended when I searched for young adult novels. I was also influenced by the reviews so I chose to read it.
The book revolves around two characters, 16 year olds in the 1980s, who fall in love over the course of one school year. “Smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.“
pickEleanor and Park was a very enjoyable book. The two main characters‘ were not just cliche star-crossed teens, but instead displayed honest emotions that people experience in their everyday life. I definitely recommend this book.

pickIn preparing for an episode of @unabridgedpod focused on Rainbow Rowell (look for it this month!), I decided to re-familiarize myself with Eleanor and Park, which I hadn't read since 2013. I downloaded it on @scribed, planning to listen enough to remember secondary characters and plots and to get a sense of it overall. (continued in comments)

It‘s day four of #bannedbooksweek2019. This is a YA novel that I read for a reading challenge a few years ago. (I 💓 reading challenges because they do push me out of my reading comfort zone and that‘s a good thing!) This book has been challenged due to #offensivelanguage. 🙄🙄🙄.
pickThis was a sweet YA romance, even though it contains plenty of snark and angst. It‘s so very teen, and I remember a lot of those feelings.
I didn‘t have a lot to be angsty about, but puberty and early adulthood made me angry and sarcastic for no good reason. Eleanor has reasons for her feelings. I just want to hug her. And take her shopping.
This is close as Sietje likes to get to posing with my book. 🤣

Is there anything more Midwestern than Tater Tot casserole? If I brought a friend over to visit my grandma, this was her go-to meal to serve. It is comfort food in its purest form. ⠀

pickThis is a great YA book. Author Rainbow Rowell nails teenage angst, first love, and the tension in Eleanor‘s home life.
pickEleanor & Park is my first Rainbow Rowell book. I love this misfit story about two unlikely characters falling so fiercely in love. Eleanor‘s life was tough to read at times, but an important reminder to take care of our children. I loved Park‘s parents almost as much as I hated Eleanor‘s. Thank you Rainbow Rowell for making me want to read another one of your books.

I‘m not usually much of a YA reader, but this one definitely got under my skin.... The writing is really lovely, and these 4 quotes have stayed with me.... Romantic in the best way... Sweet but not cloying!
I love that Eleanor doesn‘t have to change, she can just be herself, and Park finds her beautiful, whatever anyone else says..... and vice versa. Such a lovely book 💕🌈📚

pickPrepare to have your heart filled and then shattered. I always cry at the end of RR books, whether they‘re happy tears or sad tears. I hope she writes like a ten-years-later sequel because I really want to know who they become. 🥰💔😢 4.5⭐️

Rainbow has said in the past year that she would consider an Eleanor & Park sequel! I haven‘t read this book in a few years, and it will be my first audio reading. So far, I like the narrators! 👍🏻🌈💜

pickThis story gave me all the nostalgic first love feelings! My heart physically ached during parts - a sign of great character development in my opinion! I will forever love Eleanor, Park, and their love. I‘ve heard that a lot of people disliked the ending, but personally, I appreciated it. Open-ended. Hopeful.
