3 posts | 4 read
The first half of the highly acclaimed, Eisner-nominated horror fantasy tale, collected in a value-priced omnibus. Emmy always knew that the woods surrounding her home crawled with ghosts and monsters. But on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, she learns that she is connected to these creatures--and to the land itself--in a way she never imagined. Collects issues 1-16 of Harrow County.

With the recent loss of our baby dragon (she was eight but still a baby to me), I emersed myself in some graphic novels to keep my mind busy. These were so great! Very well written, and I just loved all the beautiful, creepy artwork.

The only graphic novel series that I have read this year that I have loved more than Harrow County is Monstress. At the beginning of HC Hester Beck is murdered by the citizens of Harrow County for witchcraft. Years later livestock is mysteriously dying & 17 year old Emmy finds herself accused of witchcraft. HC is not a conventional horror story. Praised by Lemire & Chabon, this is "southern-fried macabre folklore at its finest."

Addison_Reads This is one of my favorite series. And the graphics are excellent. 2y
vivastory @Addison_Reads I love the graphics! I will be diving into the second omnibus tomorrow. 2y
Addison_Reads @vivastory There's an edition of this called the library edition. The whole series is in 4 hardcover volumes and there's lots of extras, like little short stories about the characters. I plan on getting them for my personal library one day. 2y
vivastory @Addison_Reads I just noticed the following which was released a couple of years ago is going to get a library edition treatment this fall 2y
Addison_Reads @vivastory I didn't know that. I'm excited now. I haven't read any of the Tales yet. Sounds like a great Christmas present to myself. 😁 2y
