It is M's funeral. One man is missing from the graveside- the traitor James Bond, in custody accused of M's murder. Behind the Iron Curtain, a group of former Smersh and Stasi agents now want to use their lethal British spy against a target whose assassination will change history. Bond is smuggled into the lion's den to receive his orders - but whose orders is he following, and what will he do when the time comes to pull the trigger? In a mission where one false move means death, Bond must also grapple with the darkest questions about himself - but not even he knows what has happened to the man he used to be.

While I had a little trouble getting into the story, once there I was captivated. It was as Bond as it gets.

We‘re going to Russia post-brainwashed-M-assassination to join their side to learn who they want assassinated & stop it!

There‘s a Bond girl. Torture. Death. Mind control! Mistakes. Escapes. Action! Like I said, very old school Bond.

Fun short read! I‘d read another.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

dabbe I knew Horowitz did Sherlock pastiches, but Bond, too? #woohoo! 🤩 8mo
Twainy @dabbe I love Sherlock so I‘m interested 😁 8mo

114/150 James Bond is brainwashed, he commits high treason and kills his superior officer. On the run, he returns to Russia to become a full Soviet agent. This is vintage 60s Bond, he is sexist and misogynistic, brutal and cunning, prone to violence. Of course he has to bed the female agent watching over him, she has to fall in love with him, and she has to pay the price for loving him. 3 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 1/2

A sentimental series. I haven‘t read the summary, it was a strictly cover buy. Such a pretty book. Plus, looks like a quick fancy read. Those stenciled edges … 😍

I love book mail!! ❣️
