I felt like the story escalated quickly, but overall, I enjoyed this story of a girl who literally can turn invisible.

I thought it was a good, solid debut. I enjoyed it but not enough to tag it as Pick.

Catching up on some reviews… this was a neat debut novel with interesting concepts and a cute ya romance. Parts felt a bit unrealistic for the characters and that could be because I can‘t relate to aspects of their lives. Felt like there was room for more character growth but it was overall alright.

It‘s been a slow reading month for me with lots of personal drama and potential country crossing moves. Hoping this audiobook is an easy listen that gets me back into it!

This is a good story with, I felt, some important messages and social commentary. There is an honesty to this novel that I found very refreshing. I liked the characters, especially Alice; she is relatable as it relates to her desire, ambition and determination, as well as her feelings and reactions to the obstacles placed in her way by society. The ending seemed rather perfect. This is a supernatural page-turner that is really so much more.

It felt like nothing happened for a good portion of the book, & then everything was crammed into the last 50 pages. Alice does something morally wrong, and not only does no one stop her, she argues that she shouldn‘t be punished for her wrongdoings because she is poor. Likewise, much of the novel focused on her growth as a character, only to have her lie to someone towards the end. It just ruined all the character growth prior to that instance.

This was a unique and well written story. I enjoyed the character development and world building. The main character was very relatable, and you could feel how much she grew and learned by the end of the story. I'll be on the look out for future work from this author. 15/10, this is one of the best debut novels I've ever read. Miss Ann Liang has written a story with common tropes but executed them perfectly that the writing is anything but ordinary. Between the academic rivals' banter, plot twists, and Henry Li, it's just *chef's kiss.* However, beyond the characters and romance, Miss Ann has crafted a story that accurately depicts the experience of being Asian-American. It hit close to home a few times tbh.
