Retired lawyer Andy Carpenters calling has always been running the Tara Foundation. The dog rescue organization places hundreds of dogs in new homes every year. Its added up to so many dogs and new owners that Andy cant even do the math. But theres one dogand one ownerAndy will always remember. About a year ago, Rachel Morehouse came to the foundation looking for a companion. In her sixties and recently widowed, Rachel wanted a senior dog that also needed someone. Andy took a liking to her, Rachel took a liking to Lion, an older Chow Chow, and the rest is history. That is, until Rachel calls Andy begging for a favor: If Rachel dies, will Andy take care of Lion if her stepson cannot? Andy agrees, no questions asked, and promptly forgets about it... until he receives a call from Rachels estate to attend her will reading. Which is where he meets Rachels stepson, Tony, who is promptly arrested for his stepmothers murder. And he wants Andy to prove his innocence. Andy has continued to learn more about the woman he so greatly admired and the businesses she ran, and holy chow, was this woman impressive. The person who killed her deserves to be held accountable, and if Tony is to be believed, theyre still out there. And that possibility is too much for Andy to remain on the sidelines.

Mehso-so

You know that feeling of mehness you get after reading so many books by the same author, especially if they're copies of each other? I'm starting to feel that. I still think Andy is funny but I definitely didn't enjoy this book as much I did the first three I read. The case revelation was a bit, hm unexplained? I wish it had felt more put together I guess. Still, I was entertained #mystery

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 2y
TheAromaofBooks With some authors, I have to take a little break between their books to really enjoy each one. 😂 2y

It's always nice to get an Andy carpenter story in my ALCs! Also, I didn't realize I was almost at the 50% mark for Portrait of a thief 😯 I've been alternating between the two, maybe I'll finish them today? 🤔 #jubilantjuly @Andrew65 #bookspin #bookspinbingo

Andrew65 Two books finished in a day would be a great start. (edited) 2y

coffees @kspenmoll it's alright, i thought it would be more exciting since it was about heists but it's more character driven like about who they are and their relationships 2y

Pickpick

It‘s hard to believe that this is the 25th installment of the Andy Carpenter series! This latest is another funny and entertaining read! Andy gets a call regarding a chow who had been adopted out from the Tara Foundation, a will reading not long after soon has him once again out of semi-retirement. With the usual humor and charm, this fast-paced read makes for a great addition to this terrific series! Available 7/5/2022!
