No way around it: Mommin‘ ain‘t easy.
This (long) nonfiction title tells us why…what happens to new parents‘ brains and how neuroscientists are helping to affect policies around parenthood. There‘s so much information in here and it was very interesting but a bit difficult to absorb in the audio format. Would be a good idea to have the physical copy to refer back to. It takes a village…and sometimes an entire world. Support is key!

5/5

This book was incredible, and I wish it had been available earlier in my postpartum journey. This look at the neurological research of what happens during early parenthood was fascinating. It also helped me better understand the changes I experienced and feel less alone in my experience. I'm recommending this to all my friends who have asked me questions about what becoming a parent is really like.

sebrittainclark @ShyBookOwl I think you mentioned that you thought this looked interesting. I really enjoyed it. 2y
behudd Does this apply to adoptive parents, too? Or is it really focused on what happens to the mother during pregnancy? 2y
sebrittainclark @behudd It talks about nonbiological and adoptive parents as well. The book acknowledges that there's a lot less research on those groups, but one of the great points I thought it made was that the changes parenthood bring affect all parents, not just biological mothers. 2y
behudd @sebrittainclark thanks! Definitely sounds like something I‘d be interested in! 2y
