I follow Jenny L Howe on IG and won her giveaway a year or so ago for this book. I finally got around to reading it and it was charming! I loved the fat representation.

176 pages in & we get to the first kiss. Is this considered a slow-burn?
If one more person used the word hegemonic, Allison Avery was going to scream.

There is no surer way to guarantee that I will feel blasé about a book than to buy it. ? I should‘ve eaten this up: two graduate students get a second chance at love while studying Literature together in Providence, RI? Unfortunately, the characters had too much growing up to do for my liking. They were both wildly insecure & communicated *so poorly* for word-nerds! The trendy details (including a corgi) overwhelmed the story.??
Overall feelings? This was ok. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get into this and the thought of having to finish this felt like a chore. That said, it was fine once I started reading again. Unfortunately, I was never motivated to want to keep reading chapter after chapter. The characters were ok, I didn't feel any great attachment to our MCs and tbh, they were both annoying and boring. Even with their backstories.
