Don't Think Twice: Adventure and Healing at 100 Miles Per Hour | Barbara Schoichet
5 posts | 2 read | 1 reading
Within six months, Barbara Schoichet lost everything: her job, her girlfriend of six years, and her mother to pancreatic cancer. Her life stripped bare, and armed with nothing but a death wish and a ton of attitude, Barbara pursues an unlikely method of coping. At the age of fifty she earns her motorcycle license, buys a Harley on eBay from two guys named Dave, and drives it alone from New York to Los Angeles. Don't Think Twice the story of her journey, both emotional and physical, as she finds healing and adventure on the open road.

Mehso-so

First of all, this woman is my hero for traveling cross country by herself. It's something I would love but am terrified to do in car never mind on a bike!

However, the telling of the journey felt flat and disconnected. I don't know, I expected to feel more excitement or something while reading it.

Well Valentine's Day is almost apon us! Both my husband and I have to work so we won't see each other till about 9pm which is basically bedtime cuz 5am comes early 😥😴💩🙃

Curiouser_and_curiouser Aawww shame, you could make your own Valentine's day for you and your hubby 💕 I often work on Easter morning, Mothers day, Christmas Eve, etc.....the kids and hubby and I just have to make our celebrations around these dates sometimes, as long as we're together. Hope you both enjoyed another special day together. 5y

Pickpick

Barbara knew just what to do when she lost her mother ,job, and relationship,ROAD TRIP! Seriously, a dark place in her life made her reach out for something more, buy a Harley in NY state drag her spirit all the way back to LA, she met great folks , scary folks ,and came to terms with the ups and downs of a life well lived, put to rest the bad , embraced the good, and moved on. Great read.Life affirming !

Motorcycling is like life. There's nothing solid about it. Sometimes not even the asphalt under your tires.
