As usual, Andie Rose has a plan: Transfer from community college to the hyper competitive Blue Ridge State, major in psychology, and maintain her lifelong goal of becoming an iconic self-help figure despite the nerves that have recently thrown her for a loop. All it will take is ruthless organization, hard work, and her trademark unrelenting enthusiasm to pull it all together. But the moment Andie arrives, the rest of her plans go off the rails. Her rocky relationship with her boyfriend Connor only gets more complicated when she discovers he transferred out of Blue Ridge to her community college. Her roommate Shay needs a major, and despite Andies impressive track record of being The Fixer, shes stumped on how to help. And Milo, her coffee-guzzling grump of an R.A. with seafoam green eyes, is somehow disrupting all her ideas about love and relationships one sleep-deprived wisecrack at a time. But sometimes, when all your plans are in rubble at your feet, you find out what youre made of. And when Andie starts to find the power of her voice as the anonymous Squire on the schools legendary pirate radio stationthe same one her mom founded, years before she passed awayAndie learns that not all the best laid plans are necessarily the right ones. Filled with a friend group that feels like family, an empowering journey of finding your own way, and a Just Kiss Already! romance, Begin Again is an unforgettable novel of love and starting again.

Emma Lord has become a must-read author for me and this one was great too. I was into it from almost the first pages which was just nice. Also if you have a teen, my 15 year old ripped through If you get the Chance, and loved it. Hoping she‘ll read You have a match next, which was probably my favorite. ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟

Ok so this was way more adorable than I could have imagined from reading the blurb.

My first Emma Lord so I had no clue what I was going to get aside from a cute college room com-esque story so much to my surprise that I got in addition, some great characters, witty and smart dialogue, a few life lessons thrown in that kept me going once I got past the slow start. A solid and fun read!

The way I fell into this book to the point of forgetting where I was!!! Andie's energy is so relatable it hurts, and I love how she, Milo, Shay, and Val all grew stronger together. And Emma Lord's writing is always hilarious yet poignant. Best book of the year? Hard maybe. #yalit #yaromance

Such a cute read! At times, I was frustrated and annoyed with our MC, but then remembered that she's a college freshman and I should cut her some slack. The whole story was heartwarming and a lot of fun to read. Emma Lord always does such a good job balancing serious matters with cute and fun characters and scenarios.

This cozy college-set YA contempoary is fun & entertaining. A quick read, some strong predictability, but still good. Andie is a decent protagonist, a little quirky & occasionally overly cutesy, but I liked her all the same. However, everything surrounding her relationship with Connor fell flat. I've had a better relationship with my toaster. Still...despite it's flaws, I enjoyed the storyline. Also, Milo is perfection. We could all use a Milo.

I will admit that this book started out a little rough for me. Andie is a complicated main character to say the least, & I found her a little annoying towards the beginning of the novel. However, Andie‘s character growth throughout the book ended up being my favorite part! I enjoyed the depth of this book a lot! I thought the humor throughout the novel added a bit of lightheartedness to what would have otherwise been a somewhat depressing story.

This was my second book by this author, and while I did like it more than the first, it did have its drawbacks for me. Andie is an 18 yo who has secretly transferred from her local community college to her dream state college where her high school boyfriend attends, only to find out he has transferred back to the community college. Following her mother‘s death, she was basically raised by her grandmothers while her father worked away. She grew 🔻

robinb up idolizing her vivacious, outspoken mom and wants to follow in her footsteps which includes her college choice. She makes new friends at college but is still determined to follow her mother‘s lead. But as she begins to let her own unique light shine, she is also forced to re-think other relationships and how they‘ve shaped and/or held back her life. I liked the premise here of a young woman striking out on her own while attempting 🔻 1y
robinb to find herself amid her mother‘s legacy. I also liked the supporting (also very supporTIVE) characters…her roommate, the dorm‘s RA, her tutor, her stats professor, her father and her grandmas. But Andie herself could be a bit grating, and listening to her inner thoughts, while sometimes insightful, was also frustrating. She would make decisions in her head but not necessarily carry them out in life. She was easily swayed, 🔻 1y
robinb and I spent some eye-rolling time just wanting a steadfast decision from her. Yes, she was young, and I empathized with her issues/struggles, but I felt there were too many pages devoted to her indecisions. Overall, some good, some could have been better. 4/5⭐️ 1y
LiteraryinLawrence This is a really helpful review! Thanks! 1y
robinb @LiteraryinLawrence You‘re welcome and thanks! I think it‘s definitely worth reading! I just have my own pet peeves. 🙄😆 1y

Begin Again is a thoughtful romance. The humor and grace in the relationships is lovely. Once upon a time, a romance would have sported a passive, naive, sensitive young woman and a brooding, cynical young man. These characters are smarter and more kind. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for an advance copy.
