Characters were likable but at some point Jasmine felt a bit immature and at the same time I was irritated by Ashton's age crisis - he was just couple years older than Jasmine after all.

This was as fun as I thought this would be - really cozy and made me feel good.

Romance wasn't developed really well and I didn't relate to it. There was also unnecessary drama and it took too long to get over.

I listened to this one. Well read with multiple narrators. Decent book.

Daisey I didn‘t love this book either, but I thought the audio was very well done. 7h
AmyG @Daisey It wasn‘t a bad read but it was a little too “quirky” for me. (edited) 7h
Soubhiville I liked this more because it took place in one of the places I lived growing up. My dad knew about the park they talk about, though he never went there and it‘s been shut down for quite a while. 4h

I LOVED this. Shorter chapters, so many stories, a lot of characters to keep track of, but it worked well for me and I just love how the author connected it all. Can‘t wait to discuss! #literarycrew #pantone2023 #vanillacream #fieryred @Clwojick @Librarybelle

The Stray | Dick King-Smith

Pickpick

Dick King-Smith, most famous for his book Babe the Gallant Pig, was an absurdly prolific writer. I've collected a lot of his books over the years, but somehow haven't read them all, despite most of them being only around 100pgs long. With such an enormous catalog of books, not all of them are winners, but this one was a soft pick for me. Henny is 75yrs old and bored of her life in the old folks' home. One day she runs away, spending all her ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) money on a train ticket to the seashore. There she collides with a large and happy family who more or less adopt her. The story is pretty adorable and sweet, with Henny being the exact kind of person you'd want for a grandma. I know this sounds a bit nitpicky, but my biggest problem with this book is that the mom plays the lottery every week and then in the end they win! I'm not sure I completely agree with teaching MG readers that ⬇ 19h

PuddleJumper My favourite was The Mouse Butcher as a kid. He wrote so many! 18h
TheAromaofBooks @PuddleJumper - It's crazy to me how many he wrote!! My favorites still are The Queen's Nose and Harry's Mad. But so many of them are just such good fun. I don't think I have The Mouse Butcher, so I'll have to find that one! 14h
BarbaraJean I LOVED Dick King-Smith when I was a kid! The Queen‘s Nose and Harry‘s Mad were my favorites, too. Also Saddlebottom! I have always resented the renaming of “The Sheep-pig” as “Babe”—because of the movie. I really hated the movie. 12h

Mehso-so

This is purportedly a prequel to Good Girls‘ Guide to Murder, in which partiers become suspects in an intricate murder mystery and determine the murderer. It was hard to follow the group of characters, the rules, the hints - but that could have been just me.
