Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor: The Grit and Glamour of an Icon | Kate Andersen Brower
9 posts | 6 read | 13 to read
The first authorised biography of eternal legend Elizabeth Taylor. Known for her glamorous beauty, soap-opera personal life and magnetic screen presence, Elizabeth Taylor was the twentieth century's most famous film star. Including unseen photographs and unread private reflections, this authorised biography is a fascinating and complete portrait worthy of the legend and her legacy. Elizabeth Taylor captures this intelligent, empathetic, tenacious, volatile and complex woman as never before, from her rise to massive fame at the age of twelve in National Velvet to becoming the first actor to negotiate a million-dollar salary for a film, from her eight marriages and enduring love affair with Richard Burton to her lifelong battle with addiction and her courageous efforts as an AIDS activist. Using Elizabeth's unpublished letters, diary entries and off-the-record interview transcripts as well as interviews with 250 of her closest friends and family, Kate Andersen Brower tells the full, unvarnished story of the classic Hollywood star who continues to captivate audiences the world over.

Couldn‘t wait to read this first-ever authorized bio on this fearless icon. Author Brower had exclusive access to Elizabeth‘s unpublished personal letters, diary entrees & off-the-record interviews with family & friends. It‘s the real story beyond all the marriages, scandals & Hollywood glitz. When Elizabeth took on the fight against AIDS while almost everyone else turned their backs, she truly changed the world. What an inspiration! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

PurpleyPumpkin An amazing woman! And sounds like this was an entertaining read. Stacked!📚 12mo
MemoirsForMe @PurpleyPumpkin It‘s now at the top of the list of my favorite bios! I even got to see her onstage years ago with Richard Burton. What a performance that was! 12mo

The book itself is comprehensive in covering her entire life & there are some lovely photos at the end, although it may have made more sense to have them distributed throughout the book. 4🌟

For a more thorough review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5354871767 I couldn't really cut it down enough for here & have it make sense.

Y‘all, if Elizabeth freaking Taylor, at 32, though she was too old and too fat, it‘s no wonder so many of us are victims of unattainable standards.

squirrelbrain I‘ve only seen one review for this and it *wasn‘t* good at all… 2y
Cinfhen Yeah @squirrelbrain it only took 21 minutes for me to realize this wasn‘t going to be worth my time. Total shame because Elizabeth Taylor is a fascinating woman💜 2y
