The story of the Boogeyman continues. In the follow-up to Chasing the Boogeyman, Chizmar tells the saga of what happens once the Boogeyman has been apprehended. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil the first book.

As with the first book, this is a novel interspersed with real-life details. Once again, even though I knew it was a novel, I kept googling things because they felt so true. Kudos to Chizmar!

This is the second book in a probable trilogy. It better be a trilogy with that ending! I really loved Chasing the…but this one fell a little flat for me. The MC, i.e., the author, made choices I just felt were improbable based on what I remembered. Still a good and CREEPY follow-up that I recommend.

As with its predecessor, this book reads just like a true crime novel, and the inclusion of pictures and things like transcripts only adds to that illusion. This one didn‘t grab me quite as much, and I felt that all the name drops bordered on creepy and obsessive, but I still enjoyed it. I think that my favorite part of the entire novel was the end; while most of the storyline was wrapped up, it sounds like there is more to come.

JuliaRReads I have seen that it's supposed to be a three part series 12mo
Read_By_Red I heard that as well! 11mo

I enjoyed his first book in this series and this one was just as good. Same format and focused on finding a potential serial killer. The ending sets up a third book in the series. Enjoyable read!!

Trying to get my last few reads posted.

This was too similar to the first book, Chasing the Boogeyman, for me to love it as much as I would have liked.

I am a big fan, though, of the mix of what seems like true crime with horror fiction.

This sequel to Chizmar‘s 2021 release follows the same true crime format with photos, social media commentary, interview transcripts, articles, the author‘s WIP & more, offering a multimedia effect that so convincingly blends fact & fiction. Majority set in summer 2022, this one doesn‘t have quite the same nostalgic charm of the first, but there‘s more action & surprises to the storyline— plus the cliffhanger seems to promise a third installment!
