3.5 stars

I liked Deal With the Devil, but it fell a bit short of my expectations. The characters were hard to connect to and I wanted lots more worldbuilding to make the story make sense. However, I fell in love with Nina by the end and I want to read the next one in the series.

Elinor tilted her head. “On the other hand, I think you might have good humor and intelligence to spare, my dear Merida.”
Merida met her mother‘s gaze. And her smile widened.

4⭐️ I vaguely remember reading this book back when I was younger but I remember abandoning it because I didn‘t really understand what was going on. Reading it now, I thought that it was a really well-written story and that it probably was a little too much over my head at the time when I was younger. I liked how well the author developed the characters and the story. #2024 #bookreview #fiction #historicalfiction #middlegrade #newberymedal

3.5⭐️ Found this to be a pretty good romance novel. I really liked the setting of PEI (been there and I would like to go back again) and the characters felt like they could have existed. Did feel that it lagged a bit in the middle of the book. #2024 #bookreview #romance #canadian #pei #contempoary #fiction
