Raining Men and Corpses
Raining Men and Corpses: A Raina Sun Mystery | Anne R. Tan
2 posts | 6 read | 6 to read
Raining Men and Corpses For readers who like cozy mysteries, quirky characters, and a dash of humor. Twenty-seven-year-old graduate student Raina Sun is trying to keep her head above water as the bills roll in when her dashing college adviser cons her out of several months of rent. But her quest to get her money back sets into a motion a streak of bad luck. First, she finds the dead body of an ex-lover and becomes the prime suspect to his murder. The only man she ever loved reappears as the lead detective to the case and wants to reignite their passion (or at least hes sending out smoke signals). Her life careens out of control as her grandma moves into Rainas postage-stamp-sized apartment, dragging a red suitcase and trouble. Raina summons her sleuthing skills to extract herself before things get dicey. There is no place for an amateur when it comes to murder. Couldn‘t finish this. I‘m sure it‘s a wonderful story, but I couldn‘t stomach the creepy guy who repeatedly harassed the main character for a date. Eventually he blackmailed her & threatened to turn her in to the police (for a crime he knew she didn‘t commit) if she wouldn‘t say yes to him. Books with characters like that aren‘t for me.

First book finished for #CozyInTheSun ☀️
I was interested in this book because the characters are university students and professors. Raina‘s advisor is found dead and she starts to investigate, and of course, then things get complicated! It was a little long, but I‘ll probably check out book two anyway because I like the college town setting!
