What a great time! This romantasy features an enemy to lovers trope, fabulous queer characters, & a magic that makes sense as both system & metaphor.

The characters transform through their relationships & self-reflection, implicitly arguing love makes us into better, truer selves.

📸 features the most whimsical shelf in my office, simply for vibes/the aesthetic

DNF at 57%. Things started to stir a little bit at last but at this point I don‘t even care anymore, and the world building was too watery to pull me in. This is not my author I guess, which I kind of felt with another book of hers I couldn‘t finish a while ago. Oh well.

40% in and nothing happens.
We‘re still establishing roles and gingerly getting to know the characters. I am getting antsy.

Honestly, now that I‘m writing a review, I can barely remember what this book was actually about? But I did binge it in 3 days, so it was entertaining and cute enough to engage me. FMC Niamh is a magical seamstress, who ends up falling for the Prince she has been hired to create a wedding wardrobe for. I already can‘t remember what the rest of the plot conflict is about (something about magic and Royal politics). I do love the illustrated cover.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“A Fragile Enchantment” was a book I had been looking forward to receiving and reading, but I took off a star due to seeming a bit lackluster at times. However, I enjoyed the plot and character development throughout. The book does a nice job of wrapping up loose ends (always a big fan of that), and I enjoyed Kit‘s and Niamh‘s ending.

If Speak Now (TV) was a YA book, it would be this fantasy & its aching forbidden romance between a magical dressmaker from a former colony, hired for the royal wedding, & the king's wayward, plant-magic-wielding 2nd son, the groom. Together, Niamh, soft as velvet, & Kit, prickly as a briar patch, risk not only scandal, but war, ruin, uprising, and the loss of all the armor and thorns both have used to protect themselves from life and love til now.
