Laurel Grant is playing house for the holidayscomplete with a fake husband and kidsin this delightful, charming rom-com by Kerry Winfrey. Laurel Grant works as the social media manager for Buckeye State of Mind, an Ohio tourism magazine and website. She most definitely does not run a farm . . . but one tiny misunderstanding leads her boss, Gilbert, to think she owns her twin sister Hollys farm just outside of Columbus. Laurel only handles the social media for the farm, but shes happy to keep her little white lie going if it means not getting firedshe cannot be jobless again. And keep it going she must when Gilbert, recently dumped by his wife, invites himself over for the farms big Christmas Eve Eve dinner (as advertised on Meadow Rise Farms Instagram, thanks to Laurel herself). Laurel immediately goes into panic mode to figure out how she can trick Gilbert into thinking shes basically the Martha Stewart of rural Ohio and keep her job in the process. Laurel and Holly come up with the perfect planall Laurel has to do is pretend to own the farm for one dinner. But Laurel shows up at the farm to find an unwelcome guest is waiting: Max Beckett, her nemesis since Hollys wedding. The annoyingly attractive man she hates will be posing as Laurels husband just for the evening, but when a snowstorm traps them all for the entire weekend, Laurel is going to have to figure out how to survive with her job and dignity intact. Whatever the case, this promises to be the most eventful Christmas in ages. . . .

My first book of the year to round out the holiday season! I read a handful of holiday romance-coms this year, including a different “Faking Christmas” title, but this was a top pick!

Laurel‘s boss Gilbert mistakenly thinks that Laurel owns and runs a family farm with plenty of Christmas traditions, but it‘s her twin sister‘s. So she tries to fool him with a fake husband (her nemesis) to attempt to keep her job. It‘s romantic and really funny!

I just wanted more from this book... Nothing about this story appealed to me. The story didn‘t made sense and characters were obnoxious.

This book was so much fun. I enjoyed all of it. While some of the situations and characters seemed a bit over the top, they all added to make this hilarious. I'm going to have to check out more from this author.

'Waiting For Tom Hanks' is still my favorite from this author but a cozy romance is always a good palette cleanser. Full of tropes: Grumpy × Sunshine, Fake Dating, Shared Bed, Twin/life swap, snowed in, enemies to lovers... (Anyone else see Dean Cain on the cover? My husband and I think so 🤣)
