The Icehouse
The Icehouse: Book 1 in the DCI Walker Series | J J Richards
1 post | 1 read | 3 to read
DCI Jonathan Walker is a senior detective for the Lancashire Constabulary in North West England. He’s haunted by events of the past and hell bent on redemption, if he can stay healthy for long enough that is.
After a body turns up in the sleepy village of Rufford, Walker returns from his leave of absence early, his experience deemed crucial for the case. But when it transpires the crime may be linked to a decades old cold case involving the murder of his sister, the crime becomes personal: he needs this—for his wife and kids, to make amends for past mistakes, and for the current victim—but he must toe the line if he isn’t to be thrown off the case.
When more people start to go missing and bodies turn up with the same bizarre signature, Walker and his team realise they have a serial killer on their hands. But time is running out if they want to save more people from dying, and one in particular, and Walker has to consider breaking the law himself to make things right, once and for all.

An interesting new series set in Lancashire England about a detective returning from serious illness who has been called back early to try and solve a case which has echoing similarities to his sister‘s murder many years earlier. Took a while to get going, which you can understand with it being the first boook. In the end I really enjoyed this book, the plotting, characters, interaction etc. I look forward to continuing with the series.

Andrew65 This is published on 30th September. Thanks to Book Sirens for providing me with a review copy of this book, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

AnnR @Andrew65 - Just sayin' hi to a #Scarathlon teammate. I hope you're doing okay. (Btw, this is Ann_Reads. I updated my user name in a moment of impetuousness. Plus, it's shorter now.) (edited) 8mo
Andrew65 @AnnR Hi Ann, nice to hear from you. All good here, blood test tomorrow for my medication. Hope you are well. I‘m looking forward to Scarathlon, be interesting to see how it goes with smaller teams. We‘ve got it 👊🤣 8mo
AnnR @Andrew65 - Hi Andrew. I'm so glad you are okay and hope the labwork looks fine. I'm alright and looking forward to Scarathlon with the fun October distractions. Sometimes that entails more list/post planning, and therefore less reading going on 😬 😄, but that's fine. Cheers to all us #MagicalMonsters.🎃🎃🎃 8mo
