The Fractured Dark
The Fractured Dark | Megan E. O'Keefe
2 posts | 3 read | 1 to read
Dying planets, dangerous conspiracies, and secret romance abound in the second book of the Devoured Worlds trilogy, by rising space opera star Megan E. O'Keefe. Naira and Tarquin have escaped vicious counterrevolutionaries, misprinted monsters, and the pull of a dying planet. Now, bound together to find the truth behind the blight that has been killing habitable planets, they need to hunt out the Mercator family secrets. But, when the head of Mercator disappears, taking the universes remaining supply of starship fuel with him, chaos breaks loose between the ruling families. Nairas revolution must be put aside for the sake of humanitys immediate survival. Praise for the Devoured Worlds trilogy: "Full of deftly plotted twists and turns, The Blighted Stars is a body-hopping, zombie-popping, rock-licking thrill ride." Emily Skrutskie, author of Bonds of Brass "Lots of action, lots of character, and lots of heart. Megan E. O'Keefe delights with every page. I couldn't put it down!" Karen Osborne, author of Architects of Memory The Devoured Worlds The Blighted Stars The Fractured Dark

Pickpick

93/150 Sequels are rarely better than the first book, but as much as I loved The Blighted Stars, I think this one was even better. The war against the canus goes on, with people switching sides and switching bodies. I think the author made a mistake by "killing" the main antagonist in this chapter. He was clever and dangerous, a perfect foil for Naira and Tarquin. There is an unusually upbeat and optimistic conclusion ⬇️

RamsFan1963 to this volume, which I assume means something horrible is going to happen at the beginning of book 3 to tear our lovers apart again. For those who found the romance in the first book overwhelming, there's less in book 2 mainly because Naira and Tarquin spend quite a bit of time separated. Still a 5 🌟 read and highly recommended. 2mo
DieAReader 🥳Fantastic!! 2mo
julesG I've postponed reading book 3 for that particular reason. I fear something horrible is on the horizon. And yes I know they'll resolve it, but still. 😁 2mo
RamsFan1963 @julesG I read the blurb for book 3 on Audible, and yes it's the end of the world unless Naira and Targuin can find a way to stop it. In other words, more of the same lol 2mo

I really enjoyed the audiobook version of The Blighted Stars, and I couldn't wait to dive into the sequel. I'm only 2 hours into it, but I'm happy to say, so far, it has been as good as the first book.

julesG I finished the second book yesterday. Just in case you'd like to talk about the book 😉 3mo
RamsFan1963 @julesG I've enjoyed this one as much as the first book. I didn't mind the romance in the first book, but I'm glad it was toned down in this one. 3mo
julesG Glad the romance wasn't the main focus. The different POVs were interesting, some very sick minds. Now I just hope the last book is tieing up the story nicely. 3mo
