I absolutely adored this magical book following two indentured young men as they try to find clever ways to circumnavigate their magically fueled contracts of indenture. Between the shady Untermarkt where supernatural beings buy and sell things like luck, dreams, and destiny, the delightful characters, the bells, LGBTQIA+ rep, the twisty plot, and vivid descriptions, I don‘t know what I loved most! This might be my top 2024 book. #Magic #LGBTQIA

It's a Will Watt narration week, it seems.

There's a fairy market in London where you can barter anything, even your destiny. In this alternate Victorian Britain, one of the royals sells their destiny to an indentured servant who would like to gain his freedom. Meanwhile, the children in a workhouse want better conditions and hope their connection to the fairy world will help them.

The story suffered from too many POV,... ⬇️

I listened to this one while I was mindlessly cleaning our school‘s 500+ Chromebooks. It was imaginative and entertaining, telling the story of two boys, indentured servants, who meet and fall in love amidst the Goblin Market, sentient bells 🔔, and surmount terrible circumstances for their HEA. It was well narrated. My only complaint is that the story unfolds v.e.r.y. s.l.o.w.l.y. If you have the time and attention it‘s worth a read. 🏳️‍🌈

Throwback to last night, when I read another chunk of A MARKET OF DREAMS AND DESTINY while I drank this excellent peach makgeolli. I should be able to finish it today. Galey ramps up the intensity as the end approaches, with all sorts of schemes afoot and stakes raised. I don‘t think I‘ll end up loving it, but I do like it very much. #gaymay

I had to get a Queer Beer in before the end of Gay May! The can promises this year‘s version is fruitier and even more fabulous than previous iterations, and it delivers.

The book‘s great so far, too. It‘s set in an alternate England where Henry VIII converted to Druidism instead of founding the C of E and subsequently made a fairy bargain. Now it‘s the 19th century and magic abounds. I‘m excited to read on. #gaymay

In a Victorian England where faery & the human world are fully integrated Deri is indentured to a merchant in the goblin market where anything can be bought: time, strength, destiny, even love. Deri has been slyly accumulating enough funds to buy out his contract when he meets Owain who is indentured to a human factory.The race is on to see if Deri can orchestrate enough deals to change both his destiny & Owain's before they are both trapped in ⬇️
