Pickpick

There are a couple of authors of queer romances that are exempt from my "I hate romance and especially cheesy holiday romance" stance, and Con Riley is at the top of that list. Maybe because the characters tend to have jobs and vocations where the trauma offsets the saccharin without feeling exploitative, where people use their privilege for good, and where antagonists of previous books often redeem themselves.
(Tagged is another book from series)

julesG Will have to have a look at this author/series 3w
Leniverse @julesG I recommend starting with "Charles". Series is called Learning to Love. The series is in the same "universe" and sets the stage for the holiday romances (but is less cheesy). And Charles is a great character who has cameos all over the place. 3w
julesG Thanks!! 3w

Mehso-so

I did not like the writing style. It was too jumbled and meandering for me. I also didn't officially like Sebastian and since it's all from his POV that didn't help!

The main problem I had with this book was that I didn't buy the main couple. I didn't understand why they weren't together if they were in love.

PuddleJumper Everyone around then thought they were a couple, there wasn't an external factor keeping them apart, it wasn't because they were friends. At least make them stupid or something, have a reason.

There were also too many characters I didn't care about. This is a stand alone set in a shared universe. Maybe I needed to read the other books first.

TheAromaofBooks I read a book not long ago where they main characters just basically kept being like “if only we could be together!!!“ And I was like... you can??!?!?!? I was so confused about why they couldn't be, and it was never explained! 2y
PuddleJumper @TheAromaofBooks It's so annoying! 2y
