Ashes of You
Ashes of You | Catherine Cowles
4 posts | 3 read
Five years ago, I nearly lost everything. But there was a glimmer of hope on that darkest night. There was him-a stranger I could never forget. Now, I'm finally getting the fresh start I've longed for. But when I show up to interview for a nanny position in the small mountain town, the single dad has startlingly familiar blue eyes. Eyes that have haunted my dreams for the past five years. Lawson Hartley is everything I know I can't have. Older, handsome, and my boss. Not to mention the shadows in his eyes that tell me he has demons, too. Still, he seems to understand me better than anyone I've ever met. So gentle and careful of my scars, yet somehow making me believe I'm stronger than I ever thought possible. And when his lips touch mine, I'm lost. We find what we've been missing in each other. But the terrors of my past aren't done with me yet, and this time, Lawson might not be able to save me...

My goal hadn't been to embarrass him. It had been to make him pause and think. To remember that his words and actions had consequences.

#BookBracket2024
March pick is Ashes of You. Its book 5 in the Lost & Found series but it is by far my favorite one out of the series. I loved the mixture of romance, suspense, teenage angst, trauma and healing. Oh the feels with this one.

ASHES OF YOU by Catherine Cowles....I was really looking forward to reading Lawson‘s story, and it definitely exceeded my expectations, I loved it. Lawson was my favorite Cedar Ridge character, and his boys where so charming! Hallie‘s character was another good one. There was a nice slow-burn romance, with a good story-line, I didn‘t want to put it down. I‘m sad that the series is over.

I do love this series, though isn‘t one of my favorites. I loved the characters, but the plot and mystery elements felt like retreads from her previous stories. 4⭐️
