This Girl's a Killer
This Girl's a Killer: A Novel | Emma C. Wells
4 posts | 5 read | 10 to read
For readers of Finlay Donovan is Killing It and The Bandit Queens comes a bright and biting thriller following Cordelia Black, a best friend, a businesswoman, and, in her spare time, a killer of bad men. Ask Cordelia Black why she did it. The answer will always be: He had it coming. Cordelia Black loves exactly three things: Her chosen family, her hairdresser (worth every penny plus tip), and killing bad men. By day she's an ambitious pharma rep with a flawless reputation and designer wardrobe. By night, she culls South Louisiana of unscrupulous menmonsters who think they've evaded justice, until they meet her. Sure, the evening news may have started throwing around phrases like "serial killer," but Cordelia knows that's absurd. She's not a killer, she is simply karma. And being karma requires complete and utter control. But when Cordelia discovers a flaw in her perfectly designed system for eliminating monsters, pressure heightens. And it only intensifies when her best friend starts dating a man Cordelia isn't sure is a good person. Someone who might just unravel everything she has worked for. Soon enough Cordelia has to come face to face with the choices she's made. The good, the bad, and the murderous. Both her family, and her freedom, depend on it.

Read this in one day - just a fun page turner. Cordelia Black is a pharmaceutical sales rep with perfectly coiffed hair, high fashion clothes and bags, meticulously gelled nails. A woman like that couldn‘t possibly be suspected in the rash of missing men in South Louisiana could she? This is a light toned book despite the amount of blood and you‘re rooting for Cordelia as her perfect planned life suddenly goes awry.

squirrelbrain I got the ARC of this but, of course, didn‘t read it before it was published. 1mo
Centique It would just be a quick light read if you were in the mood for a palate cleanser. Not a must read IMO. 👍👋💕 1mo

Drug rep Cordelia also has a side gig. That “job” is hunting and killing bad men. This book is a great mix of dark and light. I completely agree with the Bandit Queens comp, especially in tone. I loved this one and so did my mom. It‘s out on 10/28.

CatLass007 I loved The Bandit Queens! If this is comparable it‘s definitely going on my “buy this book” list. 2mo

I enjoyed this very much. I am a sucker for books where the killer uses her powers to rid the world of criminals. I like the thought of people being punished for their bad deeds. The beginning was great. The middle portion slowed down quite a bit. After she kills a man on impulse, the book became all about disposing of the body. I feel that this book shows enough promise that I would happily read another book by this author.

This is a great novel for those of you who aren‘t squeamish as it details a woman‘s crusade to rid the world of “monsters” who prey on the vulnerable, especially young girls. Cordelia sees “smoke” behind the eyes of these men and very carefully “disposes” them, leaving no trace…until she starts dating a cop!
