Pretty sure I'll be thinking about this book forever, which is fitting tribute to the person centred in it, and who produced much of its contents. A combination of Peter Collins' own writing and art works and writings by those whose lives his work touched, it's a multifaceted case for prison abolition and an acknowledgement of his activism and creativity. His 'August 10: A History of Prisoner's Justice Day' is a must-read, eloquent and concise.

Reading this perspective on the justice system feels like a flashback to reading The Skin We're In talking about racism. Canadians are doing further harm by swallowing the hsitorical idea that 'it's not a problem here'.

"...as if a label can change the contents of the box...prison is still prison and, at its heart, prisons deal in punitive oppression. The reality is that prison is categorically incompatible with the dictionary definition of rehabilitation." ?
