This is the second book I‘ve read from this author & they are riveting. Each seem to be stand alone books, not a series. Can you imagine being a pathologist fellow checking out forensic genealogy and discovering that you are the missing baby charlotte from 30 years ago!

Finished yesterday but forgot to post until now because I was preoccupied with today‘s knee surgery. A woman training to be a forensic pathologist learns through DNA that she‘s the infant who went missing 30 years ago. She‘s thrust into a mystery involving her birth family. Chapters are short, the action moves quickly—although some scenarios strain credibility. I guessed some of the ending early on, but there was an extra twist that surprised me.

What a great, suspenseful story! I listened to the last half of the book just yesterday alone! You know a book is good when you‘re looking for excuses to do things around the house so you can listen! It was also the 1st time a book was so gripping I just sat down & did nothing else but listen! There was a lot of time and POV switching but I wasn‘t confused at all. I will definitely be reading more of Donlea‘s books! I highly recommend!

This one hooked me from the very start! Dr. Sloan Hastings is assigned as part of her fellowship to delve into forensic genetics (like what brought down the Golden State Killer) and in testing her own DNA, winds up in the thick of a 30 year old cold case. She, along with her birth parents, went missing in 1995. With multiple perspectives and timelines, the plot holds some real surprises! I definitely found myself listening at every opportunity!
