AN IRISH TIMES FICTION BOOK TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2024 Youre nine when you get your first computer. Your favourite thing is a virtual pet website; you spend hours in the chatroom. You dont understand why some of your online friends dont use their real names. Its not long before you discover porn. You dont know what youre watching, but you do know that you shouldnt tell anybody. Later, older, your first kiss is captured on camera and shared with everyone in your year. It feels like betrayal, but soon it feels normal. Part of the incessant cycle of posting, sharing and liking. Now, you cant remember a time when you didnt feel hollow inside. Now, you know that something has to change. Chilling, potent and intensely intimate, This is How You Remember It is at once a cautionary tale, a call to arms and a tender love story. It is about a life lived online, and about finding another way, when its all youve ever known.

I'm very glad the internet wasn't available and social media didn't exist when I was at school. This is horrifying, and feels very real. I really like her writing style though, and flew through it.

We are back from our holiday and we really had fantastic weather! I managed to read 11 books 📚 in 7 days.

These are the bridges over the River Tyne in Newcastle.

“This is how you remember it” has great writing and really fits our times. The pages flew by and the ending was very satisfying.
