I love it when widely successful authors dox a college student for voicing an opinion in a random article! That f*cking b*tch indeed.
If you‘re as interested as I am in YA Twitter Drama and you want to shorten your TBR of bullying authors, this is the article for you:

https://slate.com/culture/2019/11/sarah-dessen-ya-books-authors-brooke-nelson-so...

#sarahdessen #roxanegay #nkjemins

LiteraryinLititz Wow, I had somehow missed this whole controversy. Now I‘m up to date. Thanks! 3w
Megabooks Wow! You think these authors would be a bit more mature. Very disappointed in all of them for waaayyy over attacking this girl. It‘s one thing to legitimately argue why a YA pick would be good for college students, another thing to call someone a f*cking bitch for having a different opinion. 3w
LazyLibrary I found it disgusting what they did on social media. I took this book off my list Bc of it 2w
AnansiGirl Thank you for sharing. It‘s sickening seeing respected adult authors behave this way. As several people pointed out on twitter these women should prove how apologetic they are and donate to helping the now graduate pay off her loans. 2w

Hey you all, I‘m thinking of getting a new ebook reader, my old one must be about ten years old and I‘m jealous of how the new ones look. I prefer an amazon #kindle because #amazon has the biggest collection of English books, however, I‘m not sure which one (e.g the new #paperwhite).

Does anyone have any experiences about this?

TrishB I have the paperwhite and love it ❤️ 1mo
juls29 I have an older kindle and I often use my iPad for ebooks. I like them both for different things. The kindle is my go to for reading outdoors, but when I‘m inside I always use my iPad! 1mo
tessavi I switched from a regular tablet to the new paperwhite when it was on sale. I love it! 1mo

Happy Halloween 🎃!

1) I THINK it is Britt-Marie is here, but I should also really start reading Night House and How to be both

2) A Man Called Ove. It deserved a reread only one month after my first read.

3) 6!

4) Night House of How to be both OR my newly arrived books Blind Assassin and Instructions for a Heatwave (not at all fitting for the season).

The Testaments | Margaret Atwood

I finished this book on Sunday, and I am still not sure how to feel about it. I love that we got more information about Gilead and the changing POV was a treat, but then it stopped right at a point where it got very interesting? Also b/o it read sometimes more like non-Fiction/biographical the mystery was missing a bit. Her writing suffered a bit from that too.

Caroline2 That is appalling! I‘m glad people are speaking out against it though. The last thing that Holocaust Memorial organisations need right now is more historical inaccuracies and lies! 😠 2mo

Us Against You | Fredrik Backman

Panpan

It pains me to say this but this was NOT GOOD. The definition of an unnecessary sequel. The author just uses the same language & plot points like in Beartown, except this time without the deeper meaning & the emotional effects. A huge part of the book is just repeating events that happened in Beartown until I was tired. There is a lot of unnecessary violence and the new characters just didn‘t make me care so much.

Libby1 Oh dear. I have this and was looking forward to it. I hope you find your next book more enjoyable! 2mo
thewallflower0707 @Libby1 I mean Beartown was pretty much perfect in my eyes so I had huge expectations for the sequel obviously. Us against You does have a very high rating on Goodreads so hopefully you will enjoy it more! 2mo

Beartown: A Novel | Fredrik Backman
post image

I read this book in one day and then downloaded part II. This book is a perfect story told not really about hockey, but more about the way we treat our boys and how we treat our girls, about small town, friendships, first love and parents and their children. It made me both cry and vent in anger & frustration. This book had so many GENIUS turns and surprises, I can‘t get over it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I will now read everything by this author!

We visited Stockholm a few years ago for five days, which was good because the few hours we had on Thursday were not nearly enough! In the morning, we went to the ABBA Museum and in the afternoon we just walked around.

How many books you know can you spot in this Swedish bookstore?

#bookstore #sweden #holiday

Amiable How was the ABBA museum? That‘s on my list of to-dos the next time we go to Sweden! 3mo
thewallflower0707 @Amiable all the museums in Stockholm are very modern and there are lots of fun ways to participate and get creative! On our ABBA Museum Tickets were QR Codes, if we scanned it for example at the Karaoke 🎤 machine they save it for you for 30 days on their website. I also highly recommend the Vasa Museum 🚢, that‘s definitely something you will have never done before! 3mo
thewallflower0707 @Amiable also you can only buy at the museum with card, they don‘t accept cash! In fact we didn‘t need cash once and didn‘t bother changing it because in the Scandinavian nations you can buy even the coffee and the stamps with your credit card/card/Apple Pay. 3mo
Amiable @thewallflower0707 We were in Sweden this past April, but in the south — Malmö and Blekinge. That‘s when we found out we didn‘t need cash. It was strange at first, but then we liked the idea of being cashless! 3mo

thewallflower0707 @pigeonsandcrows i was wondering what you think about the ending- does the narrator have some sort of awakening, is she free from the drugs, what will happen now that her friend is dead? 3mo
See All 7 Comments
pigeonsandcrows It's definitely not a book for everyone. I enjoy unlikable narrators, but still cringed at her sometimes. But I thought it was such an interesting book. 3mo
pigeonsandcrows I'm not sure what will happen to her. I felt like the author wasn't really interested in exploring her eventual fate as she was in discussing the process she went through to get there. 3mo
pigeonsandcrows My impression was that she gets off the drugs and "wakes up", maybe not in an entirely pleasant way. I thought the last chapter tied her "awakening " to the kind of new awareness people in the US had after 9/11. 3mo
