#IndelibleMoments Day 4: A failed #Marriage, affairs-ala-Midsummer Night‘s Dream, dream-deaths, mythology, musings on classical poetry - and what it means to truly live. I have so many feelings about this fabulous book from the Netherlands. Review is forthcoming.

Eggs Sounds engaging and far reaching. If that is a dessert, I‘m in😋 2y

Reader in Amsterdam who loves her dessert (more than main course, any day everyday). First time to try poffertjes that reminded me of the German Kaiserschmarrn. The city itself makes me homesick for Munchen.
Naturally, I had to bring famous Dutch novelist Cees Nooteboom‘s “The Following Story” with me.
Any recommended bookstores in Amsterdam and The Hague? 💕💕💕📚📚📚

BarbaraBB In Amsterdam you find many English bookstores on Spui square. In The Hague there‘s Paagmans. Enjoy! 2y

“clocks served two purposes...The first was to tell people the time, and the second to impress upon me that time is an enigma, an intractable measureless phenomenon into which, out of sheer helplessness, we have introduced a semblance of order.”

A very special #WhoToFollow: Most people are probably aware by now that Litsy has been acquired by LibraryThing (if you're not, check your inbox.) Let's welcome LibraryThing's team to Litsy by following them! The future of our bookish community does after all rest in their hands. ;) #LitsyWelcomeWagon

kgriffith Oh my, my name in lights 😍 Thanks for the shout out! 6y
corycatelyn Done....I don't use librarything so hope this merger works out 😊 6y

kgriffith @corycatelyn I‘m really excited about it from a member/user standpoint, as the two together give me everything I want from online bookish homes 😊 We won‘t be combining the platforms or rolling one into the other, but rather keeping them separate entities with complementary and supplementary features and strengths. 6y
corycatelyn @kgriffith thank you so much for explaining things 😊 6y
kgriffith @corycatelyn absolutely! In case you didn‘t get the newsletter, here‘s our blog with the press release and a more in-depth Q&A that talks about our ideas and hopes: http://blog.librarything.com/main/ 6y
MrBook Well done, @RaimeyGallant 😁👏🏻! You're the most methodical of new-Litten introducers. Between you, @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks , and @BookaholicNatty , you seem to be the top 3. The 3 of us at @LitsyHappenings have our sleeves rolled up and we'll be waiting to funnel all the new Littens across the welcome-mat threshold into the family. You up to the task? 😎🙌🏻 6y
RaimeyGallant @MrBook Let's do this. I'm thinking about getting even more methodical with my approach. I need to mull it over a little more. 6y
MrBook 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🍻🍻🍻 6y
mrp27 Thank you for posting this. With you and @MrBook at the helm (along with many others) of this awesome book community I'm feeling pretty confident that only great things are to come. 6y
RaimeyGallant @mrp27 It's my pleasure. :) But I'm going to let Jason take this compliment, because it's too big for me. :) And after all, first there was Levar Burton, then there was @MrBook ;) 6y

A serendipitous find in a second-hand bookstore, I loved this & will seek out more from Cees Nooteboom. The story of a man who had an affair with his colleague's wife, it travels between Amsterdam & Portugal - both evoked w pithy, spot-on descriptions. Light but learned, with a dry sense of humour, the style is intimate & engaging but reveals many layers: Greek myths, death, metamorphosis & a worldly eye. Shape-shifting but assured, v readable.

"Her putty-faced husband: a giant built up from slabs of veal, bald, with a permanently set grin, as if he never stopped passing round the biscuits."

Love this description!

This tale from Amsterdam to Portugal in 'hall of mirrors' style sounds like an #urbanfantasy ... Another one to move up my TBR #junebookbugs 📚
