I love it when a book coincides with the real-life date when I'm reading it.
Bonus: sleeping Watson and our weird eyeball throw.

I stayed home sick today with a head cold. My dog is finally letting me relax. This book feels seasonally appropriate.
Honestly this book was a bit insane, and I loved it. Romance author Jenn Lanaro finds herself at loose ends when her marriage fails. She absconds with her screen addicted children to the beach town where she grew up, determined to “win points” in the divorce. Chaos unfolds as her childhood best friend emerges from the waves and sea monsters good and bad arrive on scene. Jane does a beautiful job of marrying the honest and the absurd. ⬇️

This is a sci-fi/fantasy/romance mash up. The storyline was unique. Jenn and her 2 children are spending the summer on the island where Jenn grew up. Jenn is trying to escape a bitter divorce and her husband. Things take a weird turn when sea monsters show up, along with a childhood friend of Jenn's that went missing years ago. I liked how Jenn became a "go with the flow" type of person as the story progressed.
A quirky comedy of a bestselling author and single mom who is visited by a guardian angel from her past who helps her get her life back on track while warning about a possible Apocalypse. Add in a possible new love interest and sea monsters and you have Chuck Palahnuik (minus the raunchiness) meets Christopher Moore.
