A soft pic for me - I didn‘t love the first quarter of the book, because I hated the MC so much. I continued to hate her throughout, but her psychosis grew on me 😆 (1)

This book sucked me in and left me saying, "That heifer's crazy and her husband is stupid!" From house hunting to committing serious crimes in the blink of an eye, there were some twists I didn't see coming. It is an easy, fun read and I definitely recommend it.

A zippy little thriller for my first audiobook of the year! To Margo, the FMC, securing the perfect house symbolizes status, worthiness, happiness, and all her hopes and dreams. No pressure! She‘s also totally unhinged, which made this book a blast. Twisted and dark, but fun nonetheless! 🎧

This was a quick read, and one I‘d recommend to people looking for a thriller for sure! That being said, I was primarily invested in the fate of Fritter the dog and I‘m not sure that was the author‘s intent.

Despite the narrator‘s child voice for the kid character being a little high-pitched for my liking, I really liked this one. A snarky ‘how far will she go?‘ about a woman wanting to get her dream house in a ultra-competitive housing market. I thought it was great, and I‘ll be looking forward to what the author writes next.

The desperation she went through to get a house was exhausting But, made for an unputdownable, thrilling read😱

The thoughts in Margo‘s head are spit-take funny. What‘s required of first time homebuyers ascertaining a home in their chosen neighborhood is a great setup for a novel. Homebuyers Margo & Ian and sellers Jake & Curt are interestingly drawn. I wish the story stayed inside the Margo/Curt blackmail. She went off the rails and became more psychopath than funny. A slower pick than I expected as I was half-way in.

Such a fun debut!! Narrator Margo may not be a good person (her house hunting has really brought out the worst in her), but she‘s a pretty funny dog lover who will stop at literally nothing to get the dream home she desires. For the last 18 months, she & her equally not-so perfect husband, Ian, have been trying for a baby & to lock in their perfect house. But after 10 times being outbid, Margo‘s ready to go all in on a tip about a new listing!

Highly recommend! I heard lots of hype about this book over the summer at my NYU Publishing Institute, and it didn‘t disappoint. The audio narration is especially expressive and satisfying hearing the inner workings of this semi-deranged MC‘s mind. I‘ve never looked to buy a house, so I can‘t relate, but I‘m sure it‘d be even better if you shared that angst. Thanks to Libro for early access!!
