A sunny, smart, tongue-in-cheek tale. The New York Times Book Review Huffington Post Honor Book for Best in Kindness Bank Street Best Book of 2015 NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) Charlotte Huck Honor Book CCBC (Cooperative Children's Book Center) Choice Book When the local Pet Club wont admit a boys tiny pet elephant, he finds a solutionone that involves all kinds of unusual animals in this sweet and adorable picture book. Today is Pet Club day. There will be cats and dogs and fish, but strictly no elephants are allowed. The Pet Club doesnt understand that pets come in all shapes and sizes, just like friends. Now it is time for a boy and his tiny pet elephant to show them what it means to be a true friend. Imaginative and lyrical, this sweet story captures the magic of friendship and the joy of having a pet.

#NewYearNewYou Day 10: #BooksWithPets reminds me of this lovely title about a young boy whose pet elephant was not “allowed” at a pet party gathering. This is a subtle but potentially very powerful book that I often read aloud in practically all my PD workshops. A beautiful tale of friendship, acceptance, and opening one‘s heart to one and all. Too cute! But rather too far on the 'grinds the moral into dust' side.

#vacationread No. 4, five minutes free time.

Thanks @CoffeeCatsBooks for your generous giveaway - & congrats on reaching 15k!

There are so many animals that I love but I have a particular fondness for elephants. I love their ability to create art, & could watch them pick things up with their trunks all day long (I often visit an elephant named Kate who lives at the zoo across from my house). My favorite little-known fact is that they can swim underwater; they use their trunks as snorkels!

A cute tail of animal outcasts that teaches the reader about friendship and acceptance. A perfect story for young children who love animals and need a reminder of what being a good friend is all about. 🐘

It's our grandson's third birthday today ( @Ambrosnazzy 's son). I got him some other stuff, but of course there are books. And in this football crazy family, I couldn't resist Goodnight, Football 😊

melrailey My nephew totally needs Goodnight Football for his birthday this weekend. Of course I‘ve already bought him Bedtime for Batman. 7y
