30 Book Recommendations in 30 Days — Day 29 “Shadowland,” by Peter Straub. This book was recommended to me by my second mom. “Shadowland,” is dark, disturbing, and filled with horrifying happenings—in other words, she knew it was right up my alley. She was right—I loved it. I still miss Mama Cass (as we called her) and I think of her often. I like to think she is somewhere enjoying a good book and a nice cuppa joe.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.

Just finished Straub‘s beast of a book, took 12 days to read but increasingly I found myself going to bed earlier each evening so I could spend more time with Tom, Del & Rose as they struggled to escape Collins‘ mindf*#ery of a construct that is Shadowland and all its slippery citizens 🎁🤔😯

Anyone else at #WorkdayRising in #LasVegas this week? I feel like I'm the only person here with a book in my hand, but you never can tell if someone's got an e-reader. Makes it difficult to find my people between sessions 😂

I've been reading multiple books concurrently for as long as I can remember, but I finally did it... I finally screwed up. I somehow managed to start two thriller/mystery/horror type books that both start out at a boys prep school and are told from the perspective of a new student attending on a scholarship. I made it far enough in that even if I set one aside, I am likely committed to being confused for at least the next five days. Dangit.

I found no fewer than 63 unread Fall TBR contenders on my shelves, all horror, suspense, true crime, supernatural, or murder mystery. Opting for the festive Halloween paper jar for selection, hubby selected Shadowland to start me off. Now I just need my boss to give me the next 3 months off paid.

I like this book but sometimes you can get a little lost or confused with the narrative between the characters.
