The Target
The Target | David Baldacci
The President knows it's a perilous, high-risk assignment. If he gives the order, he has the opportunity to take down a global menace, once and for all. If the mission fails, he would face certain impeachment, and the threats against the nation would multiply. So the president turns to the one team that can pull off the impossible: Will Robie and his partner, Jessica Reel.Together, Robie and Reel's talents as assassins are unmatched. But there are some in power who don't trust the pair. They doubt their willingness to follow orders. And they will do anything to see that the two assassins succeed, but that they do not survive. As they prepare for their mission, Reel faces a personal crisis that could well lead old enemies right to her doorstep, resurrecting the ghosts of her earlier life and bringing stark danger to all those close to her. And all the while, Robie and Reel are stalked by a new adversary: an unknown and unlikely assassin, a woman who has trained her entire life to kill, and who has her own list of targets--a list that includes Will Robie and Jessica Reel.

Easy listening audiobook for a roadtrip. The third in the Will Robie series, with plenty of action, good characters, and a brisk pace. The North Korean woman's upbringing in the camps was a little repetitive, but I understand why he pushed it so much. Great ending where all the storylines intersect for a satisfying conclusion.

At 1st the 2 storylines feel very disjointed. Hang in there; they will come together. Robie and his partner are tasked with protecting the President‘s family. Lots of excitement.

Very happy I finished this book, didn't think I would because I feel so rough (I'm too old for Matthew's Street 😂🥂🎉)

I thought this was another fantastic book in the Will Robie series, it's fast becoming a fav👍🏻
The relationship between Robie and Reel is great and I love them both. A very good plot aswell like the previous two books.

Andrew65 True Grit, a truly great film with Maddie Ross going around threatening everyone with Lawyer Daggert, then we meet him at the end. 😂 6y

BookishMe @GatheringBooks TOTALLY! Do you use the app to borrow books as well? I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the end date of promotion in Sept. Then I realised its a good way to encourage more to use the app. Checking my account and the library catalogue on the app is a daily past time 😄😆 7y

Absolutely loved this book, and in fact have loved all 3 books that I have read in the Will Robie Series so far, David Baldacci has certainly done a great job with them. This is quite a timely book with its focus on North Korea, and it was good to get some insight into North Korea. Good to find out more about Reel‘s past, and get some more Julie in the book. I wish she played a bigger part as love it each time she appears. You need to read this!

A fascinating story and similar to what could happen today. Lots of interesting characters, some good and some not so good. I enjoyed the short chapters which moved the story quickly from one scene to the next. This book gave more information about Reel's life and past history which was insight into why she behaves the way she does. I look forward to the next book and I would highly recommend this series to those who love intriguing thrillers.

Started The Target by David Baldacci, book 3 in the excellent Will Robie Series. The previous book left this off at an interesting point so intrigued to see how Robie‘s relationship with Reel and his employers is taken forward. This is part of a group read.

EadieB @Andrew I agree it‘s the best way to read the books. Did you finish your first chapter of Gunslinger? 7y
Andrew65 @EadieB Not yet, should finish that in the morning. 7y
EadieB @Andrew65 They are starting the discussion tonight. 7y
Andrew65 @EadieB I noticed that, I will most probably join in when I finish the chapter. Hoped to finish it but ended up having to take my sister to the ER following a fall down stairs. Luckily only a sprain. 7y
EadieB @Andrew65 Thank goodness it wasn‘t too bad! Hope she heals quickly! 7y
