I just came across this book which I received from a member of #LibraryThing over ten years ago! I thought it was about time to read it so I began it today for a LibraryThing challenge to read a book by an #Israeli or Palestinian author.

Totally not book related (except that I was returning from our book club party), but this is an Indianapolis accident map from tonight. We're up in the northwest corner of that mess. Fortunately not directly involved in an accident, but stuck in the stopped traffic for over 3 hours now. (It's now almost 3:30am.)
A little too packed with minutiae, but Hedaya made me care about these characters, perhaps by force of being ensconced in their self-absorbed heads. :p. This bloated, 450-page story tracks the progression of a middle aged relationship. But it also deals with the physical and emotional cost of growing up, navigating social cliques, slowly taking care of dying parents and mourning. It gives an almost shockingly "normal" picture of Israeli life.
My pick for #translatedbooks is this finely sketched story about two writers in Tel Aviv exploring a relationship - sometimes lighthearted, sometimes deep & thoughtful, it's a fascinating read set in modern Israel.
Being born into an intercultural family I get to read English & German alike but this was originally written in Hebrew - the English title is "Accidents".
Cool cover, too, right? I'm a sucker for covers ??
