Treated myself to a new book today!! 🙌🏼🎀☕️
Treated myself to a new book today!! 🙌🏼🎀☕️
Happy New Year 🎊 everyone ✨🕊️
Easing into the new year with an incredibly slow day 😌
Long walk with the lovely doggy 🐾🐾 and now coffee, candles, ambiance video with crackling fire and beach sounds 🔥🌊 a new book that I‘ve been looking forward to 📖💓
Starting this for the #Sundaybuddyread hosted by @TheBookHippie 🙌🏼 😘
I was invited to an author‘s reading a few days ago and it was such a treat. The reading itself, really good, yes. But the author himself - eye candy 🍬 those eyes!!
Thought I‘d share 😜
A *cute* and funny author. (And tall!!) How much better does it get??? ☺️😍
Wow what is a wonderful #athingaday package!! What a lovely surprise and what a treat!! Love it 😍
And you were right @DinoMom - you accidentally sent me a second package - so the first one hadn‘t gotten here within two days 😂
So I feel super fortunate for the mixup 😜🙌🏼💃🏼
Thank you so much Sharon!! 💫
Hey @DinoMom look what arrived in the mail today, a mere two days after posting it to Germany across the entire Atlantic from Canada!! Impressive. 😜
And what a lovely, happy surprise, thank you so much for your sweet gifts. This #athingaday has made my day!!!
What a generous thing to do 💝 Littens are the best 🙌🏼🫶🏼☀️
Have a great weekend 😎🤗🌸
A sunny morning in Cologne ☀️☕️🌻
Enjoying a cup of coffee and this vastly entertaining book! The relatively slow pace, variety of interesting characters and detailed build-up to *something* (which I cannot guess yet but it‘s suspenseful!!) suits me just fine this summer. Life with crutches is so slow!
Zelda the cutie is keeping me company 😍
#theworldismyoyster is the fabulous August prompt for #titlesandtunes hosted by @BarbaraBB & @Cinfhen !!
My picks for that came easily and so I‘m posting early, for a change!!
I‘m slowly making my way through this last book by Stephen Hawking, who took „the world being his oyster“ to another level!! 🪐 🧬He conveys his fascination with and curiosity for the world so well, it‘s really inspiring 💫
⬇️⬇️
Sad to learn Milan Kundera passed away ~ R.I.P. 🕯️🕊️
This book really blew me away at a young age.
(And then the movie, a young Daniel Day-Lewis, Juliette Binoche and Lena Olin - wow!)
I might re-read it soon 😌
Just now starting to read this for the #sundaybuddyread!!!
I stupidly broke my foot this week so all my plans are way off kilter, including getting a head start on this book. But things will get very quiet very soon and I will catch up 😅
I‘m currently listening to this on Audible and it‘s incredible. I‘m laugh-chortle-blubbering my way through it!!
Brilliant spot-on narration 💎👌🏼
Listening to another book of his (A BEGINNER‘S GUIDE TO FREEFALL) I‘ve only just discovered this author and love him 💘
Happy Sunday all!! ☀️🌻🌾
Just getting into this!
This book has been sitting on Mount TBR 🏔️📚🏔️ for years now, patiently awaiting its turn. I think I picked it up mostly for the cover😅
So far it‘s both sad (grief for both parents unexpectedly passing) & very funny!
Not sure if the wisdom it contains won‘t feel a bit dated - the basics of MINDFULNESS seem to have become common knowledge by now, if not common practice.
Still, I‘m curious to see where it takes me 😊
I had to dig deep for the #guiltypleasure prompt of #titlesandtunes. Mainly because I‘ve decided not to feel guilty about what gives me pleasure 😊
buuuut the DM Davidson books are kind of embarrassing. Mostly because of their obnoxious covers 🫣 some of them are so bad that I actually made a paper sleeve to read them in public. The main attraction for me was the Colorado setting, that‘s where my US family was based. Plus they‘re light & fun! ⬇️
Enjoying my morning coffee in our tiny and sunny backyard with our #sundaybuddyread!! ☀️🌸☕️
I‘m already ten chapters in (and enjoying it) so I‘m basically on schedule. But we‘re driving out to a week‘s oceanside vacation in Holland later in the day so I probably won‘t be able to join in on today‘s discussion. But once we‘re settled in I‘ll try to follow up, your prompts are always a joy @TheBookHippie !! Have a lovely Sunday everyone 💓
This is my selection for this month‘s #titlesandtunes - #islandvibes 🏝️🎶🎋
This book is SO MUCH FUN!!
I‘m so happy I finally plucked it off my TBR for this prompt🤩
This song is mentioned in the book, it‘s playing in the hotel bar on opening day. It‘s so nostalgic and classy, I think it perfectly sets the mood for the story, returning a haunted, dilapidated hotel to its former glory.
Thanks for the wonderful prompt @Cinfhen & @BarbaraBB 😊
Airport reading - don‘t know why but it‘s special ☺️
Trip to the US was waaaay too short, feels like I just got here. Heading back to Germany already 🛫🇩🇪
Couldn‘t really concentrate on any real reading with all the family time going on so I started re-reading this book that was fun the first time and is more fun the second time 🤓 the banter and snark are a delight!! 💫
Reading at the lovely #tatteredcover in Denver 💓😍
Still one of my favorite bookstores in the world and I‘m so grateful it survived Amazon & Co and the pandemic!!
Yay 🙌🏼 first time in the US since before COVID!! Visiting Arizona and then Colorado to see family and my oldest, twirliest and most precious friend 💎
Layover in San Francisco after an almost 12 hr flight 🥱 and their bookshop is not too shabby 😍
This book is a delight!! ?
It took me a moment to get into it but now I‘m so glad I trusted the Litsy love for this book and stuck it out.
Now I‘m just savoring every chapter, character, wonderful moment, sharp truth blast. And not least the presence of Six-thirty, the marvelous dog.
Note the cute table decoration in the café I‘m currently in - it seems to feature a portrait of Six-thirty himself!! ???
New book and a free afternoon to ride my bike to a café and sit and read and people watch.
We‘re not quite there yet - but spring is in the air and I‘m feeling a tiny bit giddy ??⛅️
Train reading 🚂📖☕️🫶🏼 on my way to Berlin for the first time in ages!! Aeons!!
It won‘t be all fun and games for me there but part of the trip, mainly just time for walking by myself, I‘ll savor exquisitely 💓
Audiobooking this one thanks to @Cinfhen 🙌🏼🎧😊
and enjoying it all immensely, the intriguing story, the exercise with my girl Zelda 🐾🐾 and the gorgeous crisp but sunny fall weather 🍁☀️✨
This book was a delight ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was touching and witty, rang true and I very much enjoyed being transported to Sea Point, New Jersey 🌊🐚🦀 and the interesting cast of characters.
And I totally want to meet the author in person!! I can imagine it would be a blast to hang out with her 😅
We‘re having a Golden October so far and my heart is full 🧡 🍁☀️
Saturday morning in a coffee shop ☀️☕️📖
This book is a blast. I love how it gently spins off from P&P and all its beloved characters and how they slowly develop.
I‘m nearing the ending and can‘t wait to see what happens 😬😅
#wondrouswednesday @Eggs great prompt!!
1* stacked the tagged book based on the review by @KristiAhlers ?
2* August has been a slumpy reading month, several books abandoned out of lack of interest ? now I‘m into two interesting books: Everything Must Go by Camille Pagán on audio ( @Cinfhen ??) and The Other Benett Sister by Janice Hadlow. Both well written and engaging!
3* Nepal??
California ??
Southern coast of Crete ??
Audiobooking 🎧 the fantastic Tracy Crosswhite series in record speed 😜
Often on the many walks with my little love Zelda 🐾🐾
I love the soft light of summer evenings 🌅
Whohooo 🙌🏼😅
Finally a vacation, our first trip with the new queen of our lives (long may she reign) ⚡️Zelda 🐾🐾
We‘re in a small town in Belgium and it‘s all lovely, laid back, good food, lots of hiking in the woods, which is fine despite the heat wave ☀️💦
And also , lots of chillout-reading time!! I‘ve been saving this book for this vacation and what a joy it is 😍
Audiowallking with our lovely doggo Zelda 🐾☀️🎧
First walk after beginning to slowly recover from COVID and it‘s wonderful to be out in the balmy sunshine and feel spring in the air 🌱🌸
Sadly I‘ve lost my sense of smell but am hoping it will return swiftly 🌷
Oh and this book is fun!!
Hanging out with my sweet reading companion Zelda💓🐾
After two years of being super careful (being a longterm „cancer shlepper“) I‘ve managed to contract the dreaded COVID.
I‘m eternally grateful I was able to prepare my immune system before I had to face this virus. I‘m feeling pretty battered, have a slight fever and the sore throat is viscous. But thank God I‘m well enough to read and really enjoy this book, so all is good for now 🙏🏼✨🐾
Quick sushi lunch & starting this new book my bestest sweetest funnest oldest friend and soul-sister gifted me.
I cannot wait to meet the apparently awesome heroine that she said awaits me within 😁
Happy Valentine‘s Day everyone 🌸☀️👑💝
Introducing the latest member of #dogsoflitsy 🐾
This is ⚡️Zelda⚡️the sweetest little doggo soul!!
She came to us as a rescue dog from Romania. And also as a very cautious and yet courageous force of nature! We‘re super impressed with her and so grateful to have her in our life now ☺️
She‘s proving to be a wonderful reading companion 💘
This post comes with a special shoutout to @Cinfhen 🙋🏼♀️😘
One last post from #greece before we leave… 🥺
This has become my favorite spot for afternoon ☕️ and reading… and just sitting & BEING!! ✨☀️🌸
Finally starting this book about vacations... on my vacation on a Greek island.
Perfect ☺️
🇬🇷☀️🌺🐠🎋
Enjoying a moment of peace on my first vacation day
☀️☕️ and a new book 📖 💓
Am really enjoying this book for the #narniareadalong.
For some reason I thought I wouldn‘t, I think I read several reviews saying it‘s their least favorite book in the series.
So far it feels like my favorite!! 🤩
Also enjoying a lazy afternoon with my man in our tiny backyard!! Finally warm enough to bring out the hammock 🙌🏼
Happy Sunday Littens 💓
Train reading 😃 🚂🚃
highly enjoying the view and this getaway chapter in this book for the #narniareadalong.
Happy May Sunday ☀️ to everyone
and happy Mother‘s Day to all the Mamas out there 🌸💐💖
Finished reading The Voyage of the Dawn Treader today 🙌🏼 just in time to catch up for the #narniareadalong 😅
And what a great book!! Weird, I hardly remembered any of it from my childhood, it‘s such a good imaginative story.
And Reepicheep - what a valiant hero 🐭💓💪🏼
Looking forward to The Silver Chair 💫
Absolute 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 pick for me.
I‘ve been going through this book super slowly, taking notes and going back to certain chapters again & again. It‘s been an incredible help in finding my way into being a therapist.
I‘ll probably keep it close, just reading a chapter here & there.
Real role models are such a rare gift & Yalom is definitely one as a therapist but he‘s also such a mensch, it shines through in all his books 🔥
Thanks for the tag @Eggs 😃
🎧 tagged book is the only one I can remember ever having listened to on CD. @julesG might know it 😉 such a good book and a great reading by the author.
🎧 I sure do but it‘s usually pretty mellow. Sometimes I listen to ASMR vids that have a crackling fire or nature sounds or (lately) coffeehouse background noises 😂☕️
Things are moving along nicely in this book for the #narniareadalong! Am all caught up again.
I‘m intrigued by how the story is set up & am enjoying the new characters - especially Doctor Cornelius!!
And love how they call Trumpkin D.L.F. ? that sounds very 21st century!!
All restaurants & cafés have been closed here since November & I miss reading in a cozy café so much!! Am getting some morning coffeehouse vibes via YouTube ??♀️☕️
Quick catch-up for the #narniareadalong today!!!
Phew 😅 so glad there are a few extra days for people like me!!
I read & enjoyed the last couple of chapters and was amazed at how much suspense and emotion I felt. Also was surprised at how short and dense the book is.
I realized I really had no clear memory of the ending from my childhood.
I‘ve thoroughly enjoyed re-reading this first installment ~ and now straight on to Prince Caspian🗡 🙌🏼
I‘m enjoying this journey back into a childhood favorite so much!! 🤩
I love the old familiar b/w illustrations & also the colored in ones that you‘ve been posting for the #narniareadalong!
So this is it!! I‘m days late in reading the final chapters & posting about it for the #ickabogalong 🙈
The final chapters were very satisfying ~ if a little too tidy maybe...
I‘ll give this 4 stars, I definitely enjoyed it as a group read! The story was engaging, fast paced & full of interesting characters, some kick-ass gals ⚡️
This isn‘t necessarily a book for young children, too much death & deceit.
Thanks so much @Linsy for organizing this!
Wow, isn‘t this the sweetest!! 💓
Trust is a huge issue in this chapter. Impressive how the kids & the Ickabog choose to trust each other and what that generates 👊🏼
Art by Evelyn, age 8, U.K.
#ickabogalong chapter 59
Daisy is just the toughest cookie! I feel so sad for what is happening to her - but boy is she resilient! She appears to be unbroken by the atrocious & cruel Ma Grunter. I can‘t WAIT for that horrible woman‘s comeuppance 😡
#ickabogalong chapter 37
Ha! All caught up for the #ickabogalong 😅 Chapter 27 ✅
And wow, the story has certainly picked up by now!! So far the bad guys are just getting worse and worse, they‘re just pure evil 😡
And poor Daisy, that‘s just so traumatic. I really hope she‘ll find her way out of that situation!! 🤞🏼
Art by Charlie, age 10, U. K.
Ha! So there I was all “yes let‘s do several chapters a day” and immediately I fall way behind 😬 for the #ickabogalong.
I‘m pretty sure I can catch though!!
