Booksellers are just as lovely in Paris as they are in Pennsylvania. Not that I ever had any doubt. I went to three book shops today looking for the tagged book (in French) for my high school Junior granddaughter. I told her to pick a book she wanted from France, and she gave me three to choose from. This one is apparently the hardest to find, and yet ... voila! (Then I looked it up on Amazon—it‘s available there!)
catsuit_mango It's strange because I've read and loved a lot of pagnol and thought it would be widely available... But on the other hand I was reading from my dad's bookshelves. What other books were on her list? I hope she likes it. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @catsuit_mango The other two were la femme rompue by simone de beauvoir, and notre dame de paris by victor hugo 6y
catsuit_mango La gloire de mon père is the easiest. But having Notre Dame de Paris brought back to her from Paris right now would have had extra significance 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @catsuit_mango Yes, I thought of that too. I may still get it for her also. 6y
Blaire I read le gloire de mon pere in high school and really liked it. I agree @catsuit_mango I assumed this was a popular book. I think I remember a film adaptation that was quite good. (edited) 6y
