Toad Rage
Toad Rage | Morris Gleitzman
1 post | 7 read
Limpys family reckons humans dont hate cane toads, but Limpy knows otherwise. Hes spotted the signs: the cross looks, the unkind comments, the way they squash cane toads with their cars. Limpy is desperate to save his species from ending up as pancakes. Somehow he must make humans see how fabulous cane toads really are. Risking everything, he sets off on a wart-tinglingly dangerous and daring journey to . . . the Olympics? This is the epic story of a slightly squashed young cane toads quest for the truth. From the Hardcover edition.

When I was still a kids librarian at the first meeting of the season we did introductions. I always asked the same thing: favorite book, and hated book.

This book was mentioned more times than any other (required reading at one school). My library did t have it, and I‘d never seen it at any other library. We went to pick the bones of the closing catholic school and look what I found. 👀👀.

I bought it just to see how bad it is. 😁

LiteraryinPA Ahh, so this was the most hated, not the favorite? You never know! 6y
LibrarianRyan @LiteraryinLititz yep. It was required reading at one school and every kid who went to that school hated this book. 6y
Daisey I used to have this book on my class shelf (but it walked off), and I still have Toad Heaven. I don‘t know that any kids specifically hated it, but I never had much luck recommending it. I found it somewhat amusing, and a story from the perspective of an Australian cane toad seemed unique to me. 6y
Trashcanman Psst, when's your birthday? 6y
LibrarianRyan The day I turn 40. 😜 6y
