Nabbed this at the book sale near me today! I am the BIGGEST Buffy fan!!!!! Everrrrrr #booksale
Curious about everyone‘s thoughts on Sarah Dessen leading a social media mob against a college grad student who voiced an opinion on her books. Personally?? I thought it was awful. Turned my stomach to watch her and other ya authors attack someone with such foul language and hatred. I won‘t be reading her for a while, that‘s for sure.
Anyone participating in NaNoWriMo this year?? If so, how‘s it going?? The last time I tried, a family emergency unfortunately got in the way. But lightly typing away this year without a full commitment. #nanowrimo #iwritesoicanreadit
I need to talk about Circe. It‘s beautifully written, without a doubt. But at 60% I‘m struggling a bit. I like Greek Mythology & I‘m familiar with the stories, but I quickly realized that I had to be in the mood for the topic to even pick Circe up. To quit such a well-written book seems totally wrong, but I‘m a little bored.#circe #botm
I started a new job and it‘s definitely a time-sucker. I haven‘t been on litsy in 3 freaking months!! And haven‘t read a damn thing! I finished writing a book tho 💁🏻♀️ I did finally pick up Circe, I‘m at 50% and have some thoughts. In other news, a whoop whoop is in order! Bc #botm for November is here! I‘m coming back 😫 I miss my fellow book addicts!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Another hit from Riley Sager! Dive into the creepy & haunting atmosphere of the Bartholomew, Manhattans most secretive apartments. Only occupied by the elite, & any unsuspecting apartment sitters who are unfortunate enough to get the job. Jules is grieving, heartbroken & broke. With nowhere to go, she takes a job that seems too good to be true, & soon she‘ll discover that she‘s the Bartholomew‘s favorite kind of tenant. 🔪 #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An engaging courtroom thriller told from 3 pov‘s, the father, a pastor, the daughter, the murder suspect, & the mother, a defense attorney. The story had enough mystery to keep the reader turning pages, but I enjoyed the humanity in each section. The struggles of a pastor to do what‘s necessary for his family, the hardships of being a teen & finding your purpose, a working mother‘s guilt. Not overly exciting, but still a good read #botm
Sager is def one of my new fave authors. Very excited to read his third book. Thank you #botm for presenting me with all of them! And Mayan god of death?? Yes please! I‘m sure Lock Every Door is a club fave, but I haven‘t seen many Gods of Jade and Shadow picks! Anyone else grab this??
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if you enjoy middle grade that is made to entertain all ages and you‘ve been putting off the Percy Jackson books, you must put whatever you are reading aside and start them! They are really fun and entertaining. I love the mix of Greek mythology mixed with the modern world. Quick read! #percyjackson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Bride Test was super sweet, and I am officially a Helen Hoang fan. I think anyone who was a fan of her first novel will be happy with this read. Khai is a great character and it gives wonderful insight into the mind of someone with autism and how they process their feelings. #thebridetest #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️ So this book was slightly predictable with unlikable and unreliable characters. With that said, it was a quick and fun read. Amber is atrocious, and my dislike for her is what made this book a page turner. I don‘t want to give spoilers, but there is sensitive material towards the second half of the book that was def stomach turning. More psychological than thrilling! #thelastmrsparrish 💫
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sometimes I Lie is a page turner. There is an unsettling feeling about our unreliable narrator that ebbs and flows throughout the story. Quick read & intriguing, I flew through it. This book was pretty graphic at times & disturbing (NOT as disturbing as I Know Who You Are. I‘m still asking myself what the heck?) I‘ll def be following Feeney‘s work! I know now to expect her stories to “go there” 😂 if that makes sense #sometimesilie 💫
Trying SO hard to get over the fact that the author doesn‘t use quotation marks 😣 It makes it nearly impossible for me to get into the story and it drives me CRAZY!!!!! I‘m trying not to be irrationally sad about it, and I‘m waiting for a new copy of When the Sky Fell On Splendor Bc my copy came with the pages all hot glued together 😐 book of the month fail so far!!! #normalpeople #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #BOTM picks are on point. While Theo, our psychotherapist, comes off as slightly pathetic, and Alicia, our patient, is primarily silent, the need to know why she shot her husband kept me turning the pages. Each character we meet that came in contact with Alicia is shrouded in suspicion, none are likable. It‘s a quick read with a major twist!
I was 23 when I picked up the newly released Name of the Wind. I am now 35, and still waiting on the completion of this trilogy. It‘s looking like there will be a movie or tv series before us readers get an ending. I‘ve ultimately forgotten about this author and his books. Today a goodreads review caught my eye and I thought, oh yeah! That guy! I checked, but still no release date in sight! Anyone else been waiting over a decade for this!!??
Going back to my roots 🌳 Brian Jacques was my everything growing up. I‘ve been feeling nostalgic since my 35th birthday, and what better way to revisit my childhood? I missed a few books in my teenage years and decided to reread the Redwall series in chronological order instead of publication. Anyone else love this series to death like me??? 🐁🐿🦔🐇🍁🍂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a DARK book! But I enjoyed it. Not the typical Colleen Hoover story full of swoon worthy romance. The characters are not likable, & some of the material is hard to stomach. Kind of saw the twist coming, but it didn‘t ruin the book for me. I would encourage the author to continue to expand her genre! #verity #colleenhoover #thriller
😃😃😃Anyone else get next years book of the month before this year ended?? Quickest delivery ever! This def throws a wrench in my NYE book plans💫 Soooooo do I dive into this? OR should I continue Colleen Hoover's Verity?????? I'm only on chapter 2, so 🤷🏻♀️Anyone read it yet?? #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A cute & sexy love story involving an econometrician with autism & the escort she hired to teach her how to get down & dirty! Wasn't sure what to expect from this read & I'm not a huge fan of graphic sex in books, but this was really well done & sweet. Stella is inspiring & fantastic, & not held down by labels! The last read of 2018! #botm
WOOP WOOP!!!!!! Where are all the Buffy fans on Litsy at!!????? Anyone else super excited for this release!?? Love that it's going to be a different story that branches off the same universe! Hopefully the tv reboot does the same. #buffy #WWBD
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Anonymous Girl certainly held my attention like any decent psychological thriller. A few twists and turns were predictable, but Jess and Doctor Shields are both compelling characters to follow. Loved the ending 😉 I find co-authored writing to be choppy, but I think these ladies do a perfect job. #botm
Definitely into this read! This is more my style! #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️ mixed feelings on this one. Def an adrenaline rush, but in a bad anxious way. Fantastic writing, but pretty violent. Fast read, but stomach was clenched through most of it. I fear blizzards (even tho I'm from New York) & normally don't read books with human trafficking. Personal preference, but I had a hard time enjoying the read! #botm
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is a lot like people watching. I wasn't expecting a thrilling plot full twists, but the story captivated me. Instead I met 9 people who I could relate to in a different way, some more than others. These characters made me chuckle, I felt embarrassed for some, & emotionally sympathetic to others. Masha, the house leader, is layered & intriguing. Moriarty's writing keeps the story moving at a fast pace #botm #nineperfectstrangers
Happy Thanksgiving all! Met up with the family last night and it's just me and the Forever-Fiancé today! Def digging the casual vibe and finally getting in some overdue reading time! Kev had a bath! It was a battle but he smells clean! ??
WARNING: profanity!!! But this is my library burning to the ground today.... I think a What The Fuck is in order!!! Like, my chest physically hurts....💔 thank god no one was hurt!!!! #heartbroken #library #whyyyyyyyyyy #budgetvotewastoday
Anyone else feel like their goodreads deals are kinda lousy since the kindle daily deal switch???
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I'm throwing 5 stars at this bloody dark comedy. Almost didn't pick this one, but so happy I did. Anya is legit crazzzy!!!!! You'll find fashion and gore and humor all in one paragraph. I don't think this book is to be taken as seriously as a book like American Psycho, there is a similar vibe but not as yucky. I would compare it to the new show Insatiable on Netflix. Quick read! Under 300 pages! #botm #fashionvictim #darkhumor
I can't find a thing to read (and I own a hundred unread books 🙄) but my Book of the Month just arrived!!!! Hopefully problem solved!!! #fashionvictim looks like a quick read. I've been so absent from litsy and all social media in general. I feel out of touch with my book-nerd self.
I leave for the cabin tomorrow & I'll be gone a week! I'm bringing The Book of Essie Bc I started it already (I was impatient for the next Sager read & it went on the back burner) But which other book!!??? Can't bring both, I'm determined to pack light! This stack was 8 deep before I narrowed it down to these two! #help #vacation #booknerdproblems
I'm also smuggling a copy of Daughter of the Forest, just incase I'm inspired to finally commit...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I used to spend summers in the Adirondacks & the campy atmosphere of this book sets a tone that I can relate to. I liked that there was a whisper of a ghost story inside of it. I feel it read very quick, & although it's not full of action the mystery lingers throughout. Ending gave me chills! Fun read! I assumed Riley Sager was a woman after reading Final Girls, idk why 🤷🏻♀️ I like his slightly unlikable female characters #botm
